I have done the Daytona 24hrs in a Dmax and raced a few times in the championship. There are quite a few on here that have done the championships. What do you want to know?

Yes, great karts... competitive drivers and wel organised. Club100 is the only other 2-stroke alternative. For 4-stroke championships, look at the BRKC and CovKartSport.

LDN and I did a couple of Club100 races past year and pretty much due to the location of races plus the lack of clutch (spinning off ruins your race!) means that we're likely to enter some DMax races his year

the dmax championship uses are junior spec rotax max engines, 2-stroke, 20 bhp, liquid cooled and a centrifugal clutch... only driven around milk and beans in a pro-kart but i love that circuit....

It's incredibly cheap racing and it's a simple arrive and drive.
The weight categories make for an equal professionally run kart series.

I received this yesterday - I might do the race on the 29th smile

We are delighted to offer a couple of non-championship Vodafone Dmax taster races this December – for existing, new and interested championship drivers.

On Sunday 16th December, we are offering an Open 2.5 Hour Team Endurance Race at Daytona Milton Keynes. Priced at just £250 inc VAT per team and open to teams of 1-5 drivers, this gives drivers the chance to team up with some of their 2011 competitors and for novices to see what the karts are like over a longer distance.

On Thursday 29th December, we are running a series on one hour driver endurance races at Daytona Sandown Park. These will be run to full 2012 champs regs and weight classes. At just £120 inc VAT per driver, can you afford not to race?

You can book either of these events, online at www.daytona.co.uk or by calling Lee Jackson on 0845 644 5504

We will, definitely! I'd like to commit to a season but reluctant too due to not knowing how the year will pan out with other obligations and the like.

Awesome, thanks guys, think Ive made up my mind, will ahve to get up to MK for a bit of practice before hand
I was also put off Club100 by the clutchless thing too, though I have looked into the BRKC as an alternate, its quite abit cheaper, though everytime I look into it I just keep coming back to Daytona, keep hearing such great things about them!

Club100 is the best organised series. Daytona has taken some time to get up to speed and run their events as customers expect. They have stepped up this year and whilst not perfect, they are better than ever.

The BRKC might be in your standard rental machines but the standard of drivers is pretty high and the bonus of a pro racing at as many events as possible. It is "not for profit" so costs are fantastic.

Nothing is stopping you from dipping into all the different events and seeing which you prefer.

In addition, they are hosting a 'taster session' at Sandown Park.

"Daytona Motorsport is pleased to announce two opportunities to race the Vodafone Dmax karts this December:

On Sunday 18th December, Daytona Milton Keynes will host an Open 2.5 Hour Team Endurance Race. Costing just £250 inc VAT per team and with only 20 spaces available, this one-off celebration event is bound to sell out. Don′t miss your place on the grid.

On Thursday 29th December, Daytona Sandown Park is the venue for a day of 2012 Vodafone Dmax Enduro Taster Races. Running to full 2012 regulations and weight classes, these races provide the perfect chance for drivers to experience exactly what the 2012 Vodafone Dmax Enduro champs will be like. At just £120 inc VAT per driver, they offer amazing value.

Daytona′s unique multi-function dashboards will be fitted for both of these events.

Call us on 0845 644 5504 to book your places at these events".

The D-Max karts are quick, combined with their light weight and agility, very close, competitive racing.......

Re C100 v Daytona Max. Several people have complained about the lack of clutch in C100 means spinning out ruins your race. I have done three seasons of C100 and one Daytona Max race. The two products are simply not comparable. Clutchless karts mean there is a premium on not spinning, yes, but this is largely in your control (better driving.) Driving around in a kart that is 2 seconds + off the pace is not. Having spent 30 minutes in a Daytona Max enduro at Lydd driving a kart that was understeering like a dog and felt like a 4 stroke in terms of its pick up out of corners - not to mention people taking 6 kart lengths out of me down the back straight - I finally brought the kart in and insisted on a kart change (previously I had been told the kart's lack of performance was down to my 'driving style'.) I then got a rocket which meant I caught and passed many of those who had been doing the same to me in my first kart. In the sprints in the afternoon I reported a similarly poorly performing kart in my first heat only to see it 'back in line' in the final - guess who got it!?

There is a difference between some of the karts in Club 100 but it is minimal and last season I can honestly say I had a poor kart (that means it is 3/10ths off the pace, by the way, not several seconds!)about 3 times in a whole season. With D Max I experienced that in one day!

If D Max have improved then great - they needed to - but my one off experience means I will never, ever go back. Club 100 is better in every respect in my view: not just the karts but the drivers are of a massively better standard and as a result your driving improves too. The atmostphere is great and while the staff certainly don't call you 'sir' (in fact 'dhead' is more likley if you drive like a wazzock!) they know about karts and how to keep them in tip-top shape.

Some also complain that C100 race all over the country - and yes this means a trip sometimes but, do you know what, once you get to know a few folk those Saturday evenings in the pub while staying at a B&B or camping make a C100 weekend away something special. Its a kind of different mindset I guess. D max is a commercial race series. Club 100 is a club and that to em is a huge plus.

D Maxers please don't feel the urge to come over to C100 as it is always over-subscribed and it will mean they only put the prices up! ;-)

Club100 is great, of that there is no doubt. Standard of drivers may be 'generally' higher in C100 but DMAX has some very talented drivers too. Also, it looks to expand massively next year and onwards. Even the BRKC has amazing talent in it but that's 4-stroke: nowt wrong with that except this thread seems to be revolving around the 2-stroke champs.

With regard clutch, in one C100 race, I came off and had to wait an eternity for the pusher kart, add to that I bust my wrist whilst lifting the kart around. DMAX should aim to make their karts more even, if the difference is as big as you say.

They are both great series and seem to do well despite the existence of the other.

a good few drivers turned to C100 as the costs of S1 went sky high. that says a lot about the quality of the field. easkykart has even more ex s1 drivers. dmax is almost a feeder series to C100 imho. if you can get to grips with is and do well, C100 shouldnt be an issue. for a novice or a keen amateur, turning up to C100 would be an eye-opening and potential demoralising episode.

i base it all on the number of custom painted helmets on the grid
S1 - 100% of drivers
Easykart - 80-100%
C100 - 50-80%
Dmax - <50%

Fair points although calling DMAX a feeder for C100 is way off the mark surely. An example is 4 stroke series CovKart where well over half the field has custom painted helmets... I'm not sure that is a great way to judge the quality of the field... CovKart drivers have often gone straight into owner / driver kart series or even stepped into Formula Vee or the like. I appreciate everything you said and would agree with it; guess I'm just saying that it over simplifies things to look at how many custom painted helmets there are in any given series.

DMax gets people into 2-strokes which in my opinion, is a step up from arrive and drive pro karts and i dont think DMax is as competitive as C100.

i think you took the custom helmet thing a bit too seriously! wink in my mind though, once I have spent all the money i could making myself go faster, I would turn to the superfluous like a customised helmet... for many people though, its the first thing they buy.

I agree with you that the level, generally, is higher in C100. But DMAX has some amazing drivers who also have been karting for many years and also drove in owner/driver series. I guess I was just saying that seeing DMAX as feeder to C100 is probably wide of the mark when some of the BRKC and CovKart guys go straight into cars or owner/driver series - but by your reckoning, they might go from these to C100. With regard the superfluous, a nicely presented and polished helmet is always a good idea.
