New Toro Rosso Line Up for 2012

"Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne will race for the Toro Rosso team in the 2012 Formula 1 season, the team has announced.

The news means the duo will replace Sebastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari.

I'm guessing alguersuari is now Red bulls 3rd driver and will be in a red bull seat in 2013.

No chance. They will have to drag Webber out of the fastest car on the grid, and even then they will have every other driver on the grid willing to jump in his place. So why Alguersuari?

Jamie has really come on good this last year, and is still only 21!

Plenty of life left in his F1 career.

As much as I like Webber, that 2nd seat at Red Bull is wasted. With such a strogn design team, experiance drivers like Webeber are not needed next to Vettel.

Webber will be out of contract at the end of 2012 and if RB do not wish to renew/extend his contract into 2013 there isn't a great deal he will be able to do about it.

I'm happy enough with this. Toro Rosso were always there for new Red Bull drivers, and keeping drivers in the seats for years isn't what it was about. I do find it a shame that there are so few seats in F1 now that drivers stay on for so many years.

What's happened to Brendon Hartley???

A few years ago he was supposed to be being lined-up in David Coulthard's RB seat (that'll give you an idea of how long ago).

Then he was sidelined into FRenault 3.5. Is he out of the whole Red Bull driver programme now???

Maybe Caterham will turf out Trulli for JA, Petrov or Senna, although i'm kind of hoping that they are planning to pick up the left out driver from Force Indias three.

I know this could be regarded as a 'my mate says' kind of bullst post, but

One of my friends is one of Heikki Kovalainens pit crew and at our xmas curry last week he said Red Bull wanted to place either Daniel Ricciardo or Jaime Alguersuari with them for next year, replacing which of the current drivers i don't know.

Maybe Alguersuari will be okay for a race seat next year.
If i had to put money on who he would replace it would be Trulli, who will recieve a pay off.

None of that is concrete so there is a fair chance it won't happen i guess.

Can't remember exactly what happened ( there was an incident supposedly ) but he didn't have many friends left at redbull.

Agreed. Heikki has had a great season, I think. I'm not sure what Jarno is bringing to the party at the moment.

Never expected both of them to get dropped. They must be impressed with Ricciardo at HRT and Vergne at the young driver test to take them both on. I thought Buemi might go and Alguersuari would be pretty safe as a lead driver to the new guy. Do TR have a 3rd driver?

Great news, although I'm sad for JA. I hope he finds a new seat. At his age he still has a good chance of proving his worth.

Hartley was ok but not bright enough compared to DR and JEV.
