Help John Surtees to a knighthood

I'm not usually into posting these petitions trying to get people to sign them but I think this man thoroughly deserves a knighthood for his achievements.
He's still the only man to win World Championships on two and four wheels.

I am quite shocked that he has not received a knighthood considering his career. He was recognised in the form of an OBE but like you I do not think this is a title worthy of such a legend!

Not sure if these petitions have much effect to be honest. I think Big John knocked too many noses out of joint during his career which meant that he probably eliminated himself from the runing for a knighthood years ago.
I'm not saying that he shouldn't have one, but the odds probably aren't good.

Why are you bothering signing some pointless petition.
If you really cared then you would go here and fill in a nomination

That would have some impact if they got several hundred nominations.
People much prefer to complain that nothing has happened and how bad the system is for not recognising whoever. How many of those who have complained have sent in a nomination?
