sorry for my ignorance but what does list 1b tyres mean, can we not run our standard slicks in the future classics?

Nope no slicks in future classics either list 1a or list 1b tyres...

these relate to lists of tyres in the blue book..

list 1a are normal high performance road tyres
list 1b are track day tyres...

interestingly reading last years tc regs im not sure how all those class a runners stretched a 240/650 tyre onto an 11" rim hehe

We've got a set of R888's in the garage. They are very good, about 1 sec slower than slicks but the car is far more progressive than slicks (ie will slide rather than snap lol).

Re: Rules for tyres in TC - only stipulates for classA the way I read them? Others seem free?

Thats the way i read it to, although hopefully this years will have tidied up the wheel tyre error... there was an "or" or a "max" missing hehe

and only one tyre size and 2 rim sizes...

you can only take a horse to water so many times before you think fk it and shoot the bloody thing....

Ah I see... Will I be OK with what we run on the Griff then? 285/640/18 iirc (we went to an awful lot of work to fir those tyres underneath, keeping it the same as the MG tyre width!)

Hi G,

I used 888's as i had done a lot of trackdays with them and had an idea what to expect.I also had a long chat with andy as he had done some tyre comparusons using the GTF Sagaris i think, results on his web site if i remember,if not he will post up a link i'm sure.

I was amazed how good they are on a challenge car.I had a very long chat with the CSCC's prefered tyre supplier and he reconed that it was between 888's and 048's The 888's were a little cheaper over the advan's but not enough to sway either way.He reconed that the advans would last longer over 40 mins and 888's might go off depending how you drive.I also read some people thought the 888's might over heat during the 40 mins.I think i paid about £800 for a set of 9".As for my personel thoughts,it was pouring with rain when i raced on them and they were amazing, just a little aqua planing flat out down straights at silverstone, also i had never driven my RV8 Tuscan before qually so to be fair i was nowhere near what i think could be the limit. All in all not much to choose between the Advan or Toyo by all accounts by people in the know.
