sold the TAS race car today

A big thanks to Jamie for his help in selling my car sad to see her go ...being my first car and all the work we did on her from resurecting from a barn after 8 years, some said it would be too heavy and slow . we proved it to be a good racer ...good look to its new owner now....want to race in A class ...looking for a Tuscan ...my garage is empty .

Bill, it sounds like you don't regret selling the Sag to get into DTEC anymore, despite what you said to me at Oulton the season before last. I'm still debating whether or not to do the same, I'm just not sure I could watch it drive away and out of my life. I've seen the Tuscan challenge car I want though and I'm thinking I may get a lot more fun out of racing than I'm getting out of public roads! Any advice now, from somebody who was in the same dilemma?

just buy one, race it, rag it,life is too short not too! you are a long time dead!

Motorsport is something special, it can be an emotional rollercoaster, and a very hard taskmaster but when it all comes together its worth it.

Like Tim says,life is too short,ive only raced over a couple of seasons, but i can honestly say its one of the best things ive ever done,being a spectator , track days, just do not compare...yes i miss the Sag but miss raceing more. You have to do it to know

I'm just about managing to keep hold of my road Tuscan although I hardly ever use it these days especially when the racing season starts. I have 100 times more fun racing than road driving and its a lot safer!

The first thing to go when money gets too tight will be the road Tuscan!

Just get out there, buy any TVR race car, and start racing!! You'll not regret it!

There's no such thing as a cheap Tuscan.

There's sorted tuscans, and one's that need lots of work.
Buy one thats already sorted. Thats the cheapest Tuscan, otherwise you are only making a down payment on a sorted car!

Unless you can find a good car that someone wants to get out of quickly...that way you may still end up spending some strong cash, but it maybe a bargain.

yes but some are better value than others, that mint 2 seater that Darren bought for £22k was good value, if any more Tuscans like that about at that price I would be interested,

My advice FWIW, is buy a Challenge car whilst you can.

Favourite for me would be an original AJP engined car,although more expensive to own and run is going to be the best investement long term , and also a bloody quick car.

Rover engined cars combine propper Tuscan credentials,can be just as quick(sometimes quicker)and more sustainable in the long run.

Chevy engined cars have there place, big HP and again the sustainability of an easily replaced/repaired powerplant - not my first choice as a bearded ,pipe smoking, purist (albeit without pipe or beard - yet) but id much rather see an LS Tuscan on the track than an engineless car under a dust sheet.

Three Tuscans currently available that i know of are the Martin Crass car - Stunning ex hill climb race car that really made its mark last season.

Perry still has the orange car advertised - well known car that's acheived some great results must be worth a punt.

Fred has the ex Martin Short car that's currently being re-commissioned with a full race AJP ,and soon to be ready for this season's racing- another really original car with excellent provenance

Here's a statistic ive trotted out before, but it makes you think.
Ferrari F40.. very fast,very rare icon of a car - 1315 produced.
TVR Tuscan Challenge Car... as above - 70(?) produced.

Its not just the price of ajp bits, its availablility.
Plenty of guys supplying Race Rover bits.


My Fave would be a road legal A car. Like Grants Hawthorn car. Still, could do that to mine.
