Off to the historic grand prix in May, can anyone recommend a good grandstand?

Hi Tim, I did the Historique in 2008. We took the Casino Square grandstand for Saturday and Tabac for Sunday. Both were excellent. The buzz as one of the committed guys - Edwards, Stretton, et al - fling it through Casino Square on a qualifying lap is just indescribable. Tabac is more sensory as you end up with cars behind you down the start/finish straight, to your right up the hill to Casino Square and then coming towards you out of the tunnel and away to the swimming pool.

I have seats opposite the Pits on the Saturday (apparently they are reserved for sponsors on the Sunday)
and I'm at the back of the Pits (Grandstand K, I believe) on the Sunday. My wife made the arrangements & picked the grandstands off the back of various recommendations.

Usually do K stand on the Saturday and Casino Square on the Sunday. Can highely recommend Casino square, the noise and sight of loads of Bugattis flying past the Casino is something you've got to see. Sadly will not be attending this year and I'm buying a house and paying for my wedding. Boo Hoo. Have Fun.

I spoke to Select Motor Racing about this last week who told me that only tickets for stands K and possibly N too are sold (he also said there were something like 10,000 so availability wasn't a problem). Then, if there are enough spectators on the day they'll start opening up other stands and you can effectively roam between them. I have no way of verifying this...

Don't know but it could be that a lot of stands might be block bought by the likes of Page and Moy etc.

Speak to Grandstand Motorsport - they've done several foreign trips for me and always crash hot. Tribune K is the big stand at Tabac where we sat for race day in 2008.

I can select any tickets directly from that web site so will probably go for Casino Sq.

I am going for the first time this year, although flights and hotel booked have not sorted grandstand yet.
The comments are very helpful, although I see the first site mentioned prices grandstand seats in dollars.

Can you buy direct from organisers?
Also are there viewing places that are not grandstand?

Any help much appreciated.

Best weekend I've had at a race meeting except Goodwood Revival. Just a wonderful, wonderful experience. Couple of shots from our trip to whet the appetite.

I'll be rocking up on the Thursday afternoon.
Can anyone tell me whether the circuit is 'walk-able' on the Thursday?

I was in Monaco a year or so ago but it was not for Motor Racing. I did walk the circuit and it was fun working out the lines without the barriers but I figure the perspective would be very different with the barriers in place.

My recollection is that the entire circuit is walk-able, at least it was on the Friday. You have to stick to the pavements really but there are just so many amazing cars everywhere to enjoy to. We saw countless Ferraris, Lambos, Veyrons, Zondas...everything under the sun. Milling around Casino Square in the evening is good fun too. We saw this little pair. It's just a wonderful atmosphere and spectacle.




Great opportunity to see the best guys earn their stripes too...
