Important Notice to ALL Britcar Competitors
Discussion
To all competitors in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship race meeting at Silverstone on the 24th March 2012, including Britcar Production Cup Competitors.
Due to local planning regulations in force at Silverstone circuit, NO competing car may exceed 102dB Static and 100dB Drive-By limits for the entire race meeting. This is an additional restriction placed on ALL competing cars at Silverstone to comply with their local regulations and they supersede the respective Britcar Championship noise limits specified in your respective regulations. For Britcar competitors this issue is covered in regulation 5.16 of your relevant Championship Regulations.
Be advised that any cars taking part in the Silverstone organised Test Day on the 23rd March may also be subject to this noise limit.

Local residents don't have any issue with this race meeting being run at usual MSA or Championship regs. The local residents have been extremely helpful and accommodating with our presence over the last few years and we have worked very closely with them over this time and particularly over the last six months in the planning of the 2012 race meeting.
This noise reduction is a contractual requirement from Silverstone and only effects Britcar races, not support races that weekend.

Not that we are 'not at liberty to discuss' as such but unfortunately there isn't really anything to discuss. We were given no choice by Silverstone. We discussed it with them further and were still given no choice. It is a part of the latest contract Silverstone have presented to us and we have all indication that if we were to ever return in future we would be subject to the same restriction.
Now, although it is very late in the day we have not yet had our regulations signed off by the MSA. They are working on this and we are expecting final regulations in the next few days. This means we will have the opportunity to cancel or change this round to another venue before we get the regs signed off but we would rather not as most teams have set their plans in place wrt venues and pricing for their customers.

Friday the 23rd testing is 108db static & 105 drive by, I've booked this and can cancel in writing up to 7 days before the test.
It's a general test day so Silverstone can't distinguish noise between a Britcar or any other race car.
If the race on the 24th is 100db then I really don't think we can get our car down to that level and I'm sure we're not alone in this, I'd much rather reorganise for another venue than waste a fortune going to a race only to be black flagged or not allowed to enter due to this Britcar/Silverstone contractural noise problem.
If Silverstone are being this difficult and are unwilling to let us race under the same rules as every other championship, Is it possble for Britcar to start looking for another venue now to give us as much time to reorganise as possible rather than cancel our entry for the first round?

What car are you running? We are working on another venue at the moment. Hopefully, by the end of the week we can confirm whether we are :
a: Racing at Silverstone with reduced noise
b: Racing elsewhere
c: Cancelling the first round and having an additional round at Brands at the end of the year to make up the 8 races for BEC and a doubleheader at Snetterton for the Productions to make up their 8 rounds.
Thankfully the final regs didn't get signed off on Friday as we had planned for and we've managed to get that put on hold until this gets sorted out.

David, I don't understand the politics behind Silverstone's odd decision here unless it has some kind of link to the 24hr race? Either way it does seem ridiculous to apparently discriminate against Britcar in this way and indeed we (the TVR's) may also struggle to get down to 102db static. a: Racing at Silverstone with reduced noise

If you do end up moving venue could I suggest you try Castle Combe or even Rockingham as opposed to potentially going to Brands Hatch 3 times in one season? Very frustrating for you! Cheers,
Steve

Its a sign of the times and not so far in the future most UK circuits will be 102db
If you buy a property near a race circuit what do you expect ? YOU GOT IT CHEAPER AS ITS NEAR A RACE CIRCUIT
Anyway I am ok LOL I bet in my Production Cup car I am not far of 90db VROOM VROOM VROOM
David please do not make us a double header in replacement
somewhere in Europe will do

Im pretty sure we will pass the static, but I think my car will fail the driveby on induction noise, dependant on where the mike is placed.
I assume you have asked why only Britcar is being affected, and if so what was the answer, this makes no sense whatsoever? Just for clarity, I have no interest in racing at Brands three times in a year. What about barmy Cadwell or Oulton park?
Welcome to the future of Motorsport people, I for one will pack up racing when they make some of these glorious cars sound like wet farts

One day I would really like to meet the person or people who thought this one up.
I have an image in my mind of someone preparing a letter to Britcar that delivers this news, I see a small man who has had a very disappointing life thus far, has few friends other then those imaginary ones he makes up within the confines of his 3 bedroom semi where he lives alone with his collection of corgi cars ( still in their boxes) and 4000 back copies of health and efficiency magazines. The house he inherited from his seafaring grandfather, the latter choosing to leave it to his grandson rather then the RSPCA, as the boy had a marked resemblance to a faithful multi breed mongrel companion that shared the later years of his life, but it was a close run thing. The whole house is equipped with low energy looped light bulbs,(no shades) as he got them free of charge from southern electricity when they delivered a 24 pack of them as nobody else in the street wanted the bloody things. His mother no doubt abandoned him at the age of six as she couldn't deal with the comments people made about him not looking quite normal and the fact that upon discovering his male organ at a tender age, he proceeded to use it somewhat excessively as a way to attract attention away from his rather large ears, the 666 marking, albeit only just visible above the scare he got when his drunken father dropped on his head soon after his birth, and a smile that gave the impression that it was somehow connected to another bodily function or directly linked to his predilection to pump his rather tiny member which was negleted by normal growth spurts.
Oh, and his house has a name not a number, it's call "anchors away" but some wag added a "W" and to date he still hasn't noticed !!

Are you aware that your posts contradict each other? Which is it, local planning regs (which would presumably affect ALL cars on a given weekend), or a contractual requirement from Silverstone (which is predudice against Britcar?)If it's the latter...why start this thread with the former statement? From what I can see you've created the confusion here...
