Yeah I know but let's not turn this into a "we hate sky" thread.....

Reading this months Roebuck column in Motorsport Brundle's saying how sky will show the pre-season testing, car launches etc

Have they? Are they?

Am I missing anything?

Not live, they're not! Unless I'm missing something too.

I believe the channel goes live on the 9th March.

Would've been nice if they'd have covered the testing live (plus repeats in the evening) even if they then shut it down for a fortnight. Just my opinion, mind.

Regardless of the haters, I think Sky will do a great job of the F1 coverage. I like the fact that Sky Sports News has more emphasis on F1 now compared to the BBC/ITV days.

I'm no great fan of the BBC but sat here and now if I want up-to-the-minute coverage of the F1 testing at Jerez then the BBC is the only place providing it. Can't see anything on Sky Sports.

Yeah I didn't word that properly sorry :P

I meant Sky Sports News hardly ever showed much F1 news before, now that it's running the coverage it's mentioning F1 every day now, which I like.

Sky had a live text steam the same as BBC / Autosport did.

I'd be happy with the channel being present a holding page being there - I just want to learn the channel number I default to when grasping the controller from my reality TV loving other half.

It is obvious that they will do a great job, but if they can match or better the BBC coverage is a different matter.
For me the BBC coverage is already better without seeing 2 second of Sky's. It is the exact same race coverage, but Sky's production will have a lot more ad breaks (not in the race itself THIS YEAR, but in the rest of the programming).
Yeah, Sky may be showing more of the testing than the BBC did, but to watch it you have to put up with the same football sh!te news on repeat! They might as well call that channel Sky Football News not Sky Sports News!

And in comparison to the BBC one, it was rubbish. I had both the Beeb and SKY F1 feeds up and within the first day, I was only using the BBC one. The SKY version just seemed cheap and tacky in comparison. How that is actually possible with just a web page and a load of twitter feeds I have no idea, but that's what it seemed like to me.

I do hope that's not a portent for the coverage too.

Why do you think they're doing that?

Indy and gp2 qualifying? You've got to give it to sky, they must be listening to brundle et al. It might be the only channel I watch on sky from now on, along with babestation.

Looks good, you have to admit. A dedicated channel with lots of airtime to fill... wonder if they'll move over their other motorsport coverage onto the channel?
