He is a bit of a whinger. I bet Button is already quietly working out how to cope with the reduced downforce and not bothered about what the nose looks like but how it works. It seems the best drivers adapt to the car and others expect a car that suits their driving style, even though the regs don't allow it.

Lol, can't tell if your a troll or just mixed up the two McLaren drivers....It's always been jenson that whinges like a baby and can't get the car performing unless its 100% set-up to his specification.

As others have said, a non story from a journo that obviously hasn't got proper access to information sources so has made an hotch potch story from a few bits and bobs read elsewhere. The nose was the same last year when everyone else had even more aggressive interpretations of the raised nose, so if Mclaren were to question their nose concept, it would have happened before now. From what I recall, the "aggressive" fuel load quote is a comment Lewis made during Jerez testing whilst seemingly praising the car, so it wasn't clear whether his use of the word aggressive meant low fuel or high fuel.

Yep, in context to me at least, the aggressive fuel load was a positive statement....and the nose....well...they did OK with it last year, and if the stepped nose were a step ahead (no pun intended) then surely it would have been adopted last year?However, as said, roll on the next test...The reporting around the RB seems ominously quiet doesn't it? (not that I've got anything against RB at all...just be nice for them to not steam roller the opposition again
)UtR and arayastark, apologies for being holier than thou, it'd just nice to be able to start the year of the forum where people's opinions aren't labelled troll, fan boy, hater etc just because someone disagrees. I'd agree with elements of what both of you say, personally I think Hamilton does whinge/wear his heart on his sleeve depending on your viewpoint (although I think they all do, to greater and lesser degrees) and I agree JB does prefer a car to be just so but "whinge like a baby"? I've never seen evidence of that.

Granted, but that wasnt really a normal testing situation,back from the brink of extinction and a last minute bodge to fit the Mercedes engine in meant they probably needed to give it a good workout to learn as much as possible and make sure everything worked, and probably more significantly, no sponsors on the car meant that going slowly wasn't in anyone's best interest.I don't entirely subscribe to the "can't read ANYTHING from testing" idea but neither do I think that it's a reliable indicator of performance. You can sometimes get a hint that a team is struggling by the way they go about testing and obviously if they keep stopping every 5 minutes, the fact that we've only seen fairly limited flow vis on the Mclaren this year and theyve done decent mileage suggests to me they're reasonably happy with the base car.
