V8 Supercar Season
Discussion
So the 2012 season kicks off this weekend with the Clipsal 500.
Hoping Lowndes can do the business this year. He'll need a decent start though instead of a late surge in the enduros as has been the case the last couple of years.
Any thoughts on upcoming season?
My only gripe with the V8's is the calendar they run. Races are too far apart and it doesn't seem to have the consistency of other events like F1, BTCC etc.

I'll be backing Van Gisbergen
bit of patriotism, plus he provides good entertainment:

Craig is the New England Patriots of V8 Supercars. Had his time as the "King of the Jungle", but has lost an edge to become champ again. Obviously, 888 are a strong team and he's fast enough to be thereabouts and keep you interested, but, he just can't seal the deal anymore.Norbury90 said:

Can't wait for this to start, I think I might even watch it live on the V8SC website.
Do they show the races on the website? Free?linky - http://www.v8supercars.com.au/MyV8Register/LiveV8L...
Just need to register, I think I fudged an address in just to fill the boxes if I remember rightly.

I still believe he still has what it takes, always believed there was a bit of preference given to JDub tbh.Hoping Lowndes can do the business this year. He'll need a decent start though instead of a late surge in the enduros as has been the case the last couple of years.

The Gis should have a good season imo.
Only downside waiting a week to see the highlights on Motors TV

That said when I lived out there the coverage on 7 was so good it would be on all day and that was hard to swing with the missus

Nice to have the 7 commentary team on Motors though.
Cant wait for it to start, This will be the last season of Ford vs Holden as Nissan are definitely entering next season replacing Holden at the Kelly Brothers Jack Daniels team and rumours are that the Gary Rogers team will also drop Holden for Chrysler.

Yeah really looking forward to the season.
Be interesting to see how Alex Premat gets on once he has a few races under his belt. It's a seriously competitive series and I don't think he'll be as high up the field as a driver of his stature would suggest he might be.
Has he got the car beneath him though?Be interesting to see how Alex Premat gets on once he has a few races under his belt. It's a seriously competitive series and I don't think he'll be as high up the field as a driver of his stature would suggest he might be.
Premat has a lot to learn there. I chatted to Greg Murphy in NZ last month - he's bullish for the season ahead (but then when hasn't he been?). He still thinks the Vodafone cars have the edge on suspension going into 2012. I'm very happy to see my mate Rikki's son Fabian with a decent drive this year too. Just a shame we can't get the races over here....

5 mins to the start, anyone else watching?
