It's not every day you have days like I have just had. After all the down beat news & views on here over the last few weeks and months I,m glad to be able to tell you I have managed to have no word of a lie the best day involving a TVR and racing I’ve ever had. Some day eh.
I have been at Castle Combe today with my new Tuscan that has taken me over two and a half years to get to the track today. It has been 17 and sunny all day so that was a great start. To be able to drive a car that has taken a lot of sweat and tears ( well it is TVR ) for the first time is simply awsome. I,m sure some of you can remember what it was like for you when you got your car on track for the first time. We have had a few small issues but nothing out of the ordinary for a first time out. The encouraging bit for me was running on 7 cylinders and having a brake pedal that was so spongy Mr Kipling would have been impressed but still managed to comfortably do 1:14.5 laps. That is only 2 seconds away from my fastest time round Combe so very pleased with myself and crew, is an understatement and a half which bodes very well for June 9/10th Brands Hatch. So to the chaps who like me are struggling to keep the faith after this stormy winter, take heart and stick at it the high moments could just be around the corner like they were for me today.

Thanx for the possitive thoughts.We are still working a few issues out but things are progressing and i'm really looking forward to my first race in the car which will be in the Castle Combe GT seris on 7th May with some more luck and a fair wind blowing we will get there.
Motors TV showed some of this yesterday. Looked like a very greasy drying track in 1st race and wet in the 2nd ! How did you get on Perry ? Hi Neil,
i had a really good first race outing,i came off big style in qually exiting westway did a bit of combine harvesting for the farmer but got back on track and quallied in 15th so mid pack.I had a blinder of a start in race one going into quarry made up 6 places only to loose them again during the first part of the race.The aero cars were just so quick in the really wet/damp conditions.I was supprised how little grip combe has in the wet,or was it my weak knee'd, slack jawed, mamby pamby driving.........finished in 15th.Dave Chant said race two was dry, Dot said it was wet, went with Dave and put slix on only for it to rain in the holding area so we just trawled round slip sliding in and out of every corner and every straight as well come to think of it finished in 15th again.The car came home in one piece and apart from having to wash off 3 ton of mud and potato's we are good to go at Brands Hatch.What a car though i love it and lots of folk came to see it in the paddock and were raving about how good it was to see a Tuscan back at combe.

To be honest Richard there was and allways will be the front of the pack and then the rest at Castle Combe GT's but the weather is a leveler of sorts as Gary had his 680bhp Evo up front as it is 4 wheel drive usually the Radicals take the top ten places.I had a great tussel with a Jetona for most of race one so it's the battles down the field that i get envolved with much like DETEC.As i was reminded my Tuscan was the only non aero/ground effect car on the grid.Certainly my trip into the corn field proved my car wasn't the stickyest out there
