They called me [into the pits] always at the right time. Unfortunately Fernando pitted one lap earlier than us towards the end and he opened some gap. The pace was fantastic. I've reviewed my position and changed it - but only slightly.
I think the orders to remain in 2nd were to reduce the risk of a zero points haul. I also think there was also a word in someone's shell like from Ferrari to be aware that any overtly aggressive move by the Sauber would not be appreciated - not direct intervention as such but a little persuasion.
I don't think, however, Perez made the mistake because he was thinking about backing off. I think he made the mistake because he was still on it and was trying to get as close as possible to Alonso for the next shot at the DRS zone and went in too hot.
If the message was delayed by a minute or so, I don't think he would have still been trying to close at what is a very tough corner with a back marker involved (IIRC). He would have backed off already a few turns back and held station - I think Perez was actually ignoring the orders to play safe as he felt he could make a move stick without any undue fuss as he knew he had the faster car by some margin.

Look - Ferrari have been involved in the worst of the sport's manipulation and my initial thoughts are usually that they've done it again. But, as I said above, I still wouldn't be surprised if Ferrari had said something to Sauber without it being direct orders.
You wouldn't have gone off like that just maintained a distance. Why do people always have to go down the conspiracy theory route? jeez if its not aliens and moon landings its Ferrari in F1. Get a life and stop worrying about something, which in the grand scheme of the season ahead, is fairly insignificant. Now if it had been the last race and Alonso needed to win.....

He'd already had two attempts down the main straight using DRS, one with a FULL bag of KERS and one without. Alonso being aware of the danger also saved a full bag of KERS and deployed it at the same time. Whilst "appearing" significantly faster than the Ferrari, I got the impression that the main straight may not be the place for Perez.
