Advie on the best way to do it.....

...have potentially amde something of a horlicks of booking le mans this year, with the only financially viable option being operation shoe string.

So considering as a replacement idea...and using the additional 3 months to achieve financial stability....I was considering a jaunt to the Italian Grand Prix.

In terms of booking tickets, who are the best agents, is it best to go to the organisers themselves? Any tips from anyone who has been? Will General admission be good enough, or is a Grandstand essential? If so, which one?

Personally I love General Admission, bought direct from organisers.

Hired a Kangaroo TV or whatever tehy are called now to keep track of whatis going on (English coverage and video/timings). Stayed at Como, train in, free bus, train back. Take packed lunch. Swap info on tv with food/wine with locals.

If you really want to look like you belong there, get on ebay and find something from their winning era. Anything too new (definitely not with pirelli logos) and they will see through your fascade.

They really don't care. A Brit supporting Ferrari is their interest. Mine was a mix, '99 and '04 I think. Bit battered.

They cheered a lot. And they were very very happy when Hamilton crashed into the wall on the (last?) lap... this was 2009.
