Well no, it's almost certainly not, but it's quite an interesting stat, in my opinon.
if Alonso wins his third title in 2014 or later, it will be the longest gap between titles in the history of the championship.
I think this is more of an indication of how young drivers can win titles at now than anything else, but I'm sure it's a stat that will be wheeled out when he wins his third championship. Niki Lauda is the current record holder with six seasons between titles, Hill is next with five.

There seems little to tempt Alonso elsewhere, at least at the moment.
If what has been released about the new concord agreement is true, and there is little to suggest it is not, then having Ferrari as part of the decision making process, to the exclusing of the majority of the other teams, will mean that they will make partial decisions. Therefore, this year's struggling car will be transformed into the class of the field when the regs change.
Otherwise, if it is going to be a level grid (when was it ever?) then Ferrari will struggle all the time the choice of staff is restricted.

Interesting stuff, Derek, but I'm not sure how Ferrari could make the sport's rules to be more in their favour. They're hardly the innovators at the moment are they! Unless they make it a regulatory requirement for everyone else to be as lacklustre as they are at the moment... which is a possibility.
