Getting into btrda Rallycross or something similar?

Hi all,

So I'm looking at getting involved with some kind of competitive motorsport, I've done alot of "racing" but only with friends in a field so I'm new to organised motorsport events!

Based on the top gear episode about motorsport for the price of golf I've been looking at http://www.btrda.com/Rallycross/

so my questions are:

Is it any good?

Is it really really really expensive? How much do I need to budget for running costs (assuming I have a car etc already)?

Is there anything similar but cheaper/better for a novice?
