McLaren Drivers Appealing For Better Overtaking Rules

Heard this briefly on the news today, following some of the moves made in Bahrain and other races this year.
Knowing how regularly this is questioned, I'm doubtful that a great deal will be done in improving this, as FIA have shot themselves in the foot making overtaking regs so confusing.
I'm glad that people are actually speaking out about it, but only hope that they don't use this as a reason to further penalise drivers who make valid defensive moves.

I think it depends on which team/driver makes the defensive move ..... 
Agreed , Schumi used to push the right up to the rules boundaries and beyond ..... nothing at all wrong with that of course and he wasnt exactly popular for doing it ( winning a race by finishing in the pit lane for drive through etc etc ....) but it made him a multiple champion
Drivers need TOTAL clarity of such rules and will always push the limits of those rules ...its up to the authorities to APPLY and rules consistently and without favour
ETA but alas politics and money seem to get in the way sometimes .... I guess its all part of the make up of the sport we love

Good point. I do find it a little ironic that Lewis is appealing for this knowing his defensive manner. However, it seems that a number of drivers tend to break the rules, more than likely down to seeing how far they can go before they get cautioned for it.
I suspect Lewis is looking for clarity as he was so nearly pushed out of the race whilst making a valid overtake, as the rules stand it could have been Lewis who got the drive through. Nico has certainly picked up a lot of "race craft" from his team mate.
