Is the unpredictability of F1 making it boring?

So now Mr Lauda is wading in on the debate that the 6 races 6 different winners is in danger of making people not want to watch and turn off.....

Personally I'm loving it this season as it's thrown up a few interesting races.
Alonso seems to be consistantly in the top few places which is why he's leading, Mclaren seem to have employed the keystone cops as a pit crew, Seb can't seem to tame his RedBull and Lotus seem intent on not getting a win!

So what are the thoughts of PH?

Yeah, really dull not KNOWING that Vettel will win every race, isn't it?

Best season opener for years, no make that DECADES!!!!!

I might put a tenner on a Marussia winning before the end of the season!

PS I also like the GPs are mainly on Sky now too as I only watch the highlights in the evening, getting my Sundays back!

Except for the totally hooked on F1, Monaco may have had the occasional viewer turn away in large numbers.

As a life long Motor Racing enthusiast, this season has been very interesting so far and long may it continue. If the days of the one-horse race are over for the time being, praise be for that. Roll on the seventh different winner this season. Step up Schumacher, Hamilton or.... anybody ..;) ... and even the tenth!

One key thing for me; it's not unpredictable. Top 3 teams are top of the drivers championship. Redbull, Mclaren and Ferrari.

Yes other drivers are winning but I personally really like it currently.

It's ok, and much better than previous seasons recently but buzzy little 2.4 V8s , which seem unbreakable and foolproof gearshifts do dumb it down. V10s and 12s with 900bhp, stick shifts and much less aero would be infinitely better.

I think it's a bit dull.... but for other reasons.

I find it exciting when a car is coming through the pack. Working their way up into the points and towards a podium position. You might be supporting someone only for their tyres to give up and they lose the 5 places they've just worked hard to get. I'm finding it almost impossible to get enthralled in a race this year and end up only watching the first and last 5 laps at normal speed. The rest is at x8 or x16 speed on my PVR.

Its definitely been a really enjoyable season so far, especially after Vettel's domination in the last couple of seasons.

I'd prefer it if the drivers were able to push a bit more though. Seems a shame that the tyres force them to drive so conservatively for the majority of each race.

NO - but the repeated circular debates on it are!

some will say - yes - and bh about the tyres

some will say - no - and try to explain that it was ever thus, unless in an era dominated by a single team/driver

some will find their own axes to grind within the wider subject

Monaco aside, because it rarely produces racing as such, this year has the best start to a season for years. 6 winners in 6 races. How can that be boring? The finger isn't running way with the title this year, Fred is leading & Webber is joint second so how is that dull?

All we really need is for Lewis to find his race winning form, in Canada I hope, & we will be in for an even better season.

I respect Mr Lauda however he is quite wrong in his assumption.

Got me interested again as I was loosing interest in the wake of the Red Bull domination of the last couple of seasons.

Agree about the silly 2.4 V8's. Would much prefer the 10 & 12 cylinder engines owe ver we all know that, sadly, we won't ever see such engines, or proper gearboxes, in F1 again which, IMO, is a great shame.

This year has, so far, been superb so more of the same please.

I'm not complaining - I'f finding this season so far to be really enjoyable.

It's the fact that there have been so many 'experts', whether Drivers, Ex Drivers or Journo's who are now after years of moaning that one driver/team dominance is boring are now complaining that it's boring for other reasons.

It seems that F1 can't win lol.

I don't think there's been any lack of overtaking this season, ok perhaps not quite as much as last year, but last year we had too much DRS advantage and a lot of the passes were down the straight against people who could do nothing other than 1 direction change followed by the chaser gliding past.

Winning without merit is not winning at all. At the moment it seems people think anyone can win due to luck rather than talent.

- People who prefer watching highlights so they can do other stuff on Sundays.
- People who switch off because Red Bull dominated for a season.

For me, every season is a classic. Yes maybe Schumacher won 5 WDCs in a row, but do you remember how close 2003 was?
