Should Noble go GT racing?

Ive always wondered since the launch of the M600 why Noble hasn't gone GT racing and competed at le-mans.

the car seems like a good base for that sort of project, and would love to see them going toe to tow with the Morgans and the Astons.

any chance of this happening in anyone's opinion?

That depends. Do they have a waiting list for cars? If no then go racing. If yes don't waste the cash.

They probably don't build enough cars to get homologation and don't have millions to throw at racing

Money. They simply don't have enough to build and develop a full blown Le Mans car and then run a test programme and full race series on top of that.

It would make a good base for a GT car however they need someone to take the project on and develop it, for example Prodrive, RML or CRS.

going racing really is just burning through ALOT of money.. but they would be the true underdog, and the support from the crowd would be strong.

ok crowd support doesnt pay the bills, but after watching how carol shelby did it on a shoe string budget ( comparatively ), that must be some-way possible today as Morgan did/do well in the GT champs.. and sound freaking awesome

Money! They don't have the budget nor the potential returns from spending it on racing.

I'm 99% that that is correct. Just as the 'badge engineered' LMP2 car this year was French money IIRC

Even if they had money, they would have to build and sell a LOT (hundreds!) of cars to achieve homologation for GT racing. Look at the trouble Mosler had (and didn't get GT3 papers) when the Grand Marques objected to them getting the MT900 approved. Even though Ascari only built a small handful of cars, they got it. Mosler have built quite a lot of cars, and if they had been homologated, I'm sure they would have picked up all of the trophies.

If Noble produced a car of Mosler MT900 potential and performance, they would get the same treatment.

So, if you want the FIA to support GT racing, and they want major manufacturers to be involved, expect those manufacturers NOT wanting upstarts involved that will make them look slow!

Homework? I left school over 20 years ago.

I looked initially before commenting, but not deeply enough. I'm quite surprised - although Peter Dyson isn't the team owner.

So the logical reason would be to do with homologation and the crippling costs involved with building enough road vehicles. Added to that would be the cost of developing a racecar to take on the big manufacturers.

Even Mclaren seem to be struggling to develop their car for gt racing, it always seems well down the order or crashed..

There are two reasons to go GT racing.

Top Level GT racing (like Corvette, BMW, Aston and Ferrari in GTE) to reinforce the brand. I guess Morgan did this to change their image.

GT3 racing to sell lots of customer cars and make money from racing.

I don't think Noble have the capacity to go customer racing and the need to build/change an image by doing something high profile. Like Pagani, Koeniggsegg and Spyker they have a tiny niche that doesn't need much marketing

Yes they have a waiting list,their waiting for someone to order one just kidding

Would be interesting to know how many have sold and good to see a private team develop one for GT racing!

Nothing better that GT and LMP cars side by side!

I think it'd be a great idea, I'd love to see a couple of M600 GT cars racing at Le Mans in a year or two. I feel it would make a good looking racer as well.
