We are doing the Spa FunCup 3000km at Spa in a few weeks, and I have seen the prices of LED pitboards (cheapest I can find is ~£2300!). Are there any other cheaper options out there?

Alternatively does anyone want to rent me theirs for the 4,5,6,7 July?

Maybe contact some of the teams that did the Le Mans 24H this year. Most if not all the teams use LED pitboards.

How heavy are these ?

Might be a total non starter but.....

For example could just haul a small LED monitor over the pitwall , connected to a netbook on the pitwall by USB with some appropriately coloured text on it ?

<£200 solution

Dunno whether that would be bright enough. I'd be thinking 12v LED sidelight bulbs, pit board letters with the letters cut out, and some slightly frosted cellophane where the letters were. Run it off a car battery.

This is my take on this problem.

The overall size is 1100 x 850 cm and there are 4 rows for 22 cm high letters.
The letters (no tin the photo) are vynle cut out on a clear plastic backing that slots in front of the white acrylic.

Getting the drivers to read, understand and follow . . . . . . . well, that is a whole other world of problems.

Cheers,
