Brands Hatch Historic Festival - Formula Ford crash
Discussion
I was at the Brands Historic festival yesterday, thoroughly great day despite the wind and showers. Highlights were definitely the F1 and F5000 cars in the Derek Bell Trophy, and Martin Stretton putting in a stunning performance in the Historic F2 race - big commitment going through Paddock Hill!!
Reason for the post though is to find out if the two drivers who were involved in a nasty accident in the Formula Ford race were OK? At least one was airlifted to hospital, and they seemed to take a long time to sort the incident out. It's never a happy sight to see a car recovered back to the pits under a tarpaulin, and we were sitting there quite worried for them both.
I've not been able to track down any news, so hopefully someone on here might know how they're faring?

There was a picture on Twitter soon after the incident where the car was rolling and was upside down in the air when a car hit it.
I will not show the picture for obvious reasons but it looked very, very nasty.
Thank heavens that everyone appears to be ok from what could have been a tragic accident.

I have a photo, which I obviously haven't posted. It's of the car crashed, sat on the barrier with the marshall appearing to talk to the driver. However, the driver has no crash helmet on in the photo and there are no medics on the scene. We all know that marshalls would never remove a driver's helmet, that's always the medic's job. So, I had come to the conclusion myself that his lid had come off in the crash.
He's a very very lucky boy to escape with just a broken arm, wrist, cuts and bruises.
I was walking from Druids to the straight as it happened, saw the dust cloud in the air and knew it could only have been a biggie.
