Aside from the fact I agree he wondered about with the unwarranted sense of self belonging some time ago, he may have been a good negotiator and may be a good manager, PD may have been forced into this situation by bigger fish and the promise of a drive somewhere else.Most drivers have managers outside teams, Martin Brundle manages a couple of drivers I seem to remember including DC amongst others, MB isn't directly associated with any teams as far as I know is he?

He used to run the 2MB management company with Mark Blundell, but he's not involved anymore. Most drivers have independant managers. IainW said:

A number of so called 'Managers' are either bag carriers, and just look after travel arrangements for drivers or act as advisors and a calming influence. Most of the contractual work is done between teams, lawyers and freelance specialists. Even Simon Fuller of XiX management will use freelance advisors before discussing Lewis H's contract with Martin Whitmarsh.
Anthony H has done a good job, but when stepping up into a top class drive, it takes a different type of advisor and also these guys need tax advise, and a full teams of people to arrange their lives. Been there, done that got the t-shirt!!!

Now if BCE were running McLaren, might he not whisper into Di Resta's ear something about a drive if he dumps Anthony?...Bernie knows that this will get back to Lewis who sees his negotiating position weakening in the face of a decent Plan B being put into place..That'd be pretty devious wouldn't it?...
But back to the real world..a clear sign that Mercedes have made their move..and thus that Schumacher has already made the decision to retire. When's the German GP?
Can't really see why this means Schumi has decided to retire. He's going to want some better results from his investment and can see that the car is steadily improving despite his run of mechanical & team issues. He's still incredibly fit and motivated. Compare how pleased and unfazed he looked after the Valencia race to how completely knackered Kimi looked.

The article claims Hamilton was claiming some credit for DiResta's potential consideration by Mercedes, but I struggle to see what he (Hamilton) could possibly have brought to the table except his ego.
Mercedes have been developing thier own drivers for years. Hamilton is just piggybacking on the bleeding obvious quite honestly.

I remember Martin Brundle expressing the opinion that Anthony Hamilton was one of the best negotiators in F1, he certainly did alright getting Lewis where he is, nobody gets that far on talent alone.Mercedes have been developing thier own drivers for years. As to connecting DIR and Mercedes ... you don't think the fact that Anthony has a long standing relationship with Merc (through McLaren) would be of any benefit to Paul? But then again, since Paul was a Mercedes DTM driver they probably already know who he is.
An Ham wears the expression of someone who is out of their depth, I can imagine him in the garage staring at a monitor pretending to make notes, tutting and shaking his head in a vain attempt not to get found out. However that might just be the way his face is - he seemed like a remarkable man in the Nic Ham doc.
