What is the driver for countries paying these extortionate fees for the right to host a race? 40 odd million just to be allowed to have the race, and then they foot all the additional circuit and infrastructure costs after that. It seems backwards, if Bernie was paying the countries to host races it would be more logical.

Is the net financial result really a loss for the countries? If so why do they do it?

Where does this leave Paul Ricard as that was due to share a slot with Spa?


Pleased that Spa is back on full time, but I'd quite happily lose Bahrain, one of the spanish ones, one of the german ones, korea, etc to see F1 race at Paul Ricard.
