Looks like the A4 may have had his nose just up the inside in that last corner and ran wide into the Zonda on exit.
looking like that I can see how it came to be a "racing incident" but imho blame can only go on the Audi driver for that one.

I'm fairly sure that that is quite a famous crash and that to fully appreciate it you need to watch the preceding 3 or 4 laps where they were both giving as good as they got and more.

IIRC both drivers had their wrists very firmly slapped.

I used to have a link to the previous 5 mins of it. I can't remember much in the way of argy bargy. I think the Vette driver was just closing up on the 911 and gave him a little bump into the last corner.
Could be making that all up though

From what Ive seen, it was just a frustrated vette, bumped him once or twice after he gave back the place, on the final corner was too eager. The 911 was doing fine, the vette was keeping clean (apart from the cup car he bumped into...) until he illegally over took the 911 on the pit lane, then got rather BTCC.

Sure the 911 was defensive in the last 4/5 laps but no where near in the realms of bad sportsmanship. Well until the final seconds...

The most interesting thing about that video is that the vette is being driven by Jan Magnussen, who if you remember was given a good run by Stewart in F1 but ultimately looked totally lost yet the guy can obviously drive!

Yeah, was going to say, looks like he got a nose up the inside and was given room but possibly drifted wide on exit or got loose and collected the Zonda.

Looks to me like the Zonda driver wasnt wearing a HANS device. yeah, I may have only just started running one myself, but my Mini isnt a £1M+ race car capable of 200mph.

Heard a quote somewhere that Stewart really rated Magnussen, but since he'd skipped half his education to drive karts, he lacked the technical knowledge or understanding. Ron Dennis was meant to rate him too.

I thought the 911 driver may have slowed at the apex to prevent the Corvette getting a run on the final straight. Jan was very close and really pushing it so he may simply not have been able to stop the car. I don't think Jan did anything wrong.

The Jalopnik article says they backtracked two laps to arrive at the result to give the win to the A4 because he was in the lead at the time.
