Query for experienced Monaco GP-goers

Going to Monaco GP next year - tagging it onto the end of a holiday in Provence. I would like to stay an extra day down there after the race purely to be able to drive and walk the GP circuit on the Monday, ie the day after the race. My query is this: does anybody know, from their own experience, whether that's possible - or are the streets still closed whilst they're busy dismantling the grandstands and armco etc?

You can walk some of the circuit and drive most of it on the Friday I'm sure?

When i was there in 1992 you could walk the track right after the race. Not sure if you can now.

Was there this year. From what I heard the track was open at around 7pm on the day of the race. We drove round the track about 4 times on the Monday, so you should be OK to walk round the outside, but actually walking on the track could be tough because of the cars that will be there.

We walked the track on the Friday, along with about 4 million other people. I'd recommend that if you actually want to walk on the track, instead of round the perimeter paths.

BTW when people say you can drive the track they mean they reopen the roads and it's two way traffic - don't expect you're going to be able to try setting lap times or anything. You also can't drive the complete track because of the way the streets work through Casino Square.

I have been twice, 98 and 2001. I drove there in 2001 and went for a lap on the Monday after the race and managed to complete a whole lap. Traffic was chocka block from 'Rascasse' until casino sq. but then seemed to vanish, after being denied the racing line through casino thanks to a rather angry policeman objecting to me going the wrong way round (right and proper way to us Brits) a roundabout I managed to get a clear run all the blooming way to the swimming pool, even tweaked the back end of my MX5 out a teensy bit around the station/lowes/grand/whatever hairpin and used a bit of kerb/pavement into 'Portier' and as we breezed through the tunnel I remember thinking 'god this is awesome' I looked at my mate and he was grinning like a Cheshire cat and thinking the same too. Luckily he took some pics on the way round as well, though I will never forget that weekend.
Watched the Top Gear episode where the chaps razz round there the other day and it brought the memories back again. Go for it!
