Maxi Endurance 48hrs

I had an email through from RaceCarsDirect.com a couple of days ago advertising the Maxi Endurance 48hrs race, to be held in March.

48 hours of racing just sounds wrong, somehow. Can you really expect cars to last that long, and more importantly drivers and crew?

It doesn't read as though they've got anyone signed up to it yet, so it'll be interesting to see if they can get this one off the ground.

In fact, with my cynical head on, it all looks like a bit of a scam. But we'll see.

I believe that there is quite a lot if interest in this. We have certainly made an enquiry with our M3.

6-8 drivers, 2 teams of mechanics. Use the same logic as driving a 24hr (keep off kerbs, keep out of trouble, be gentle on the car, etc) and it should be possible to finish without any major hicups, as long as lady luck is on your side.

I was up for it in the TVR, until I realised it was 48 hours not 48 minutes

It actually sounds really interesting from a team management position, with a race that long your going to have to rest the crew, so its going to need a bit team. typically at a 24 hour race like the brit car most of the crew are up for 36 hours ( get up on the sat morning to packed up sunday night) so for a 48 hr race your looking at an operating time of around 60 hours which isnt feasible I've done 48 hours awake and tht get surreal at the end...

I do hope that they dont expect you to finish the race and pack up and go in 2 hours like silverstone grrrr

Hello all

Thanks for all the interest in and comments on the MaxiEndurance 48 Hours (March 14-17, 2013). Yes, it will be the longest circuit race in the world - intended to be a test of machines and crews, of strategy and endurance, planning and execution.

Here at Project 100 ([e-mail]; 01727-836238) we are actually the agency responsible for securing entrants from the UK (plus USA and a few other English-speaking regions). From Madrid race HQ we expect to receive later today the rules in Spanish (signed off and stamped by the Spanish Automobile Federation). An English version will be available shortly (77 pages, so the translation is still underway).

At present we have had early initial interest from over a dozen cars from the UK alone plus several from overseas - ranging from Ginetta G40 to Seat Leon to A-M GT4 to Porsche Cup, Ferrari Challenge and at least one 2007 spec GT2 RSR. Several confirmed entries have been received.

The Navarra circuit and circuit management are fully in support on all fronts, and yes, if as an entrant you want to chill out Sunday after the race and then pack up on Monday, we will ensure that will be OK.
