No Brands GP 2hr.

After 3 hours of furious testing at Brands, on parking up the Chevy tuscan seemed to have developed a "Knock" on tick over. With limited spares and as we were unable to find the issue, Perry decided to pull the car from this weekends 2hr endurance race rather than risk a serious failure.

The car was running fine. Pulled like a jet engine and had a fastest lap of 54secs on road tyres (R888s) which I thought was pretty good considering the amount of time the tyres were giving away. No running issues...in fact a pleasure to drive...if a bit of a handfull. Lots more to come from that car too.

Thanks for all the offers of help, but we wont be there. We're already home!

I went down on the Sunday to see Steve, Matt and Gavin run the Green Machine with Chris Lord at the wheel. Not a great day as the car did one lap of qually with its new (barely run second hand) engine before chucking a load of oil out of the catch tank and developing a light knocking sound. A herculean effort was put in by Steve and Matt who dissassembled the engine in situ and were planning to drive back to Oxford to pick up the parts and rebuild it without removing the engine from the car before the race started!

Unfortunately the engine had in fact picked up a shell so it was game over. It was a real shame to see so much effort come to nothing, but Steve's attitude is amazing - if it can be fixed, we'll fix it! What a legend!

so Brands Hatch GP 1 TVR -3 !!! we need to attack this next year with a good showing and get some TVR Honour back !!

Will second Nicks comments. I've had the pleasure of knowning Steve for a few years now and what he doesn't know about TVRs, isn't worth knowing. Always as "cool as a cucumber" under pressure, which is just what you need as a race engineer. If anyone's going to get your car back on the grid after you've broken it, he's your man....... (oh, and a jolly nice bloke, too)!
