He did a lot of the Olympics cycling coverage and has done football before. Add to that him becoming a Father at the start of next year I can see the travelling becoming unappealing. I see him moving more into a general presenting role within the BBC, bet he'll be on the One Show soon!
I assume BT have made Jake an offer he couldn't refuse. He may also have had enough of the travelling. The number of races which now take place outside Europe must be pretty demanding for everyone.
I was very sceptical about Jake presenting F1 at first, but he has been excellent. He is a natural broadcaster who makes presenting live sport look easy and natural, which I'm sure it isn't.
Will they promote Lee Mackenzie to replace him, or try to lure Ted Kravitz back from Sky?

I had not heard of Jake a few years back.
I thought he did an excellent job while working for the BBC.
I doubt that I will remember him in a few years time.
In many respects, I am pleased that the BBC are not paying him silly money. There is probably a wealth of talent out there waiting to be discovered.

Easy on the eye.Much easier to watch and if you must, listen to, than Mackenzie.

Not a chance, it's clear he's loving his job at Sky. So much more input than he had at the BBC.Lee Mackenzie seems awkward when presenting large live segments, maybe that would get better with practise but I think she is a better side kick. Unlikeable condecending Ted sodding off was the only thing good about the sky deal, god forbid he comes back. I think it will be a new face.
Maybe the show needs to go in a new direction, I don't think the chemistry/format can stay the same when you replace key members.

Really? Ok, it's been an age since ITV had the F1 but I thought he was dull as dishwater, and frankly had the best job in TV, as far as I remember the program would start with him, big old-school mic in hand "Good Afternoon, and welcome to sunny Monte Carlo for the 1997 Monaco Grand Prix" then he'd be gone, 3 hours later "Thanks for tuning in to another thrilling race - THREE overtakes, until next time..." I'm sure he had about 5 mins screen time total.It's a really shame for fans he's been great on the F1 coverage, the Beeb must be livid! They seemed to be grooming him for greatness.
