k it. We all need to move country!Am I the only one disappointed in hearing this?
I love the current format, the spectacle of the 'big two' 650bhp ozzy built bruisers battling it out on home soil, banging those long long gearlevers through their sequential shifts, jumping kerbs on two - or no - wheels, fighting heroic oversteer - often side by side - every single lap.
it doesn't need muddling, meddling, sophistication, complication, prestige manufacturers or anything else to make it better.
Leave well alone, it's brilliant as it is

Fail to see how it will be bad for their category.
unfortunately its not a factory entry. its a wealthy private team paying for it all and Benz are putting zero behind it. Same as the Benz racing in Superstars etc.
David McCarthy, the Senior Corporate Communications Manager of Mercedes-Benz Australia Pacific, had the following to say on the announcement: "Our position on entering V8 Supercars has not changed, we have jointly with AMG approved to offer Erebus Motorsport the opportunity to purchase the requested technology and support via the Customer Sports program. We are not directly involved and we have no plans to undertake any sales or marketing activities in conjunction with this effort. There is no Mercedes-Benz or AMG money inherent in this new entry, the entire project is funded by Erebus Motorsport"
they are going out of their way to make sure people know its not manufacturer-backed and is just a customer program.
