Race number illumination - how was it done?

Guys,
just a quick question really - how did people illuminaite their race numbers?

I thought they were just reflective, but they were glowing all the way round including the parts of circuit with no lighting.

Very expensive back lit number panels!

They were an ingenious light panel about the thickness of a sheet of laminated plastic which wires into the cars electrics. It lights up and shines through the white vinyl number panel showing up the black numbers clearly. The system comes from a company called E-Light Technologies.

The blue book rules stipulate the car number has to be visible to the satisfaction of the timekeepers (Q 11) and this is a system they have been happy with in the past. Teams are welcome to use other systems if they wish but it is at their risk as to if the timekeepers are happy with it.

They do look great, and are a real bonus to the spectators and probably are the best solution to lighting the numbers at night, they do cost a magnitude more than a bit of white vinyl though

We mount it on a small bit of Angled Ally. Never had any problems with the time keepers complaining they can't see the numbers.

We got a set from Britcar, they are good and if applied
Carefully can be re-used over and over, at £200 a go
