Tips for Spa F1 road trip...

Need to book tickets for spa f1 next year, but after any advice on doing the trip in the car, I.e. tunnel to France, then drive down.
Need some ideas of good hotels/places to stay which are nearby with good access to the circuit. Camping is not an options as my old man is coming along and he won't do camping!
Any advice welcome!

Just to add a bit to the above, if you're vaguely in the North it's worth mentioning the Hull->Zeebrugge ferry, it's overnight so breaks up the driving magnificently and you've only got a couple of hours on the other side to get past Brussels.

Me and 4 mates went this year. Instead of getting a hotel we rented a little house for the weekend (ended up being a week!). We we using the Dover-Dunkirk ferry, drops you off that little bit nearer to the belgian border!
We got the ferry at 2am on the thursday morning and got into France for around 5am local time, after a short while driving we saw signs for Brugge, which as we had time to kill seemed like a good idea! Brugge is a very beautiful city, so good to get there around 6am as it means the place is deserted and you can explore for yourself!
We then set off to go to the track for the thursday afternoon pit walk, i had a brief kip in a service station near Brussels (i say brief as an MX-5 isn't the most comfortable car to sleep in!).
We did the pit walk n that (around 4pm i think), then headed off for the hotel for the night. The hotel was a fair distance away and was way below the standards i expected for the price (price is expected since the hotel was a last minute idea).
We then went to the track on Friday, saw Jonny Cecotto Jnr crash infront of us, and not much else due to the rain!.
Then went back to our home for the next 5 nights. The place we stayed at was: http://www.belvilla.co.uk/holiday-home/belgium/sou...
Very nice place, had a sauna, enough place to sleep 5, was very quiet and was very cheap compared to the price of hotels!
We originally planned on only staying there for the weekend then going to the Nurburgring on the monday and camping nearby, but the thought of having a solid roof over our heads and not having to lug all our luggage round the 'ring seemed a lot better idea!
The house i posted is in a region called Sourbrodt, which is around a 10 minute drive from Malmedy (nearest town to the track), then a 10/15 minute drive to circuit due to the diversions in place. The roads you drive to get there though were really nice though, lots of downhill twisties, with a beautiful damn do drive over.

In any of the Ardennes villages you will find good hotels/pubs and attractive scenery.
In the old WW1 battlefields around Bastogne there are some interesting places. Durbuy is a beautiful village with nice hotels.
Nearer Spa, Liege is a bit industrial but has a lively centre.
The hotels in Spa book up very early and are expensive, but try looking south of the circuit. Nearer the Luxembourg border there are a few villages outside of the GP catchment area that may have better value.
