Who do you think has been the best F1 drivers of 2012?

I guess someone has to start a thread like this at some point, so hey ho, I have. 
In my opinion I rate Alonso as the best by far this year, followed very surprisingly by me with Kimi, and Seb third.
But the thing is, I have no idea where I would place Hamilton or Button due to the mess their season has been, no idea at all.
I can't help thinking, if Alonso wins this year's championship, which incidentally I still feel strongly that he won't, I think it might prove to be possibly the best championship victory I have witnessed in my (54 year) lifetime. It will be a championship won more by sheer driver talent than possibly any other I've seen.

Alonso & Kimi are 1 & 2 - no question
Vettel & Hamilton 3 & 4 - Both quick, but not as mature/complete as they could be.
Button, Maldonado, Webber, Perez, Kovalinen & Hulkenberg (in no order) in the next group, their ups outweigh their downs.
Di-Resta, Senna, Ricardo, Glock, Massa & Kobayashi - Did not do as well as could/should have.
The rest.

Why should he be 7th? Hard to see what Webber, Massa and Button have done to warrant being ahead of him (Hamilton has been pretty unlucky this year). And Petrov !
Why Petrov?? because he's a complete novice. Didn't really start racing until a few years ago.
He's probably the least experience guy on that grid by at least 10 years and he's currently out performing Heiki. If you look at his stats and experience he's the out performed the car and his years.

What I mean is you would expect Lotus to have the 4th fastest car behind the other 3. I suppose in reality it's probably somewhere around the pace of McLaren and Ferrari though. A tie between Vettel and Alonso.
Alonso because he has had a car that has not been the quickest and been at the top of the WC for most of the season, and still has a great shout of winning.
Vettel because he has had a car that has not been the quickest all season and kept n touch with the WC for most of the season, and still has a great shout of winning.
Honourable mention for Hamilton for showing Mclaren have had the quickest car of the season, but the team not being consistent enough.

I would agree with this, but Alonso probably edges it for me as his were very polished performances, rarely making any mistakes. He 's looked the most complete, with the outstanding attributes of two of my most favourite racers: Hamilton and Button. To my mind, he is 80% of Hamilton and 80% of Button put together, just without all their negative attributes. Vettel is very good and he's had to work more for this year than his previous WDC year and he's shown good account of himself. He'll be well deserved if he wins the '12 WDC (most likely).
At the start of the season I thought we'll see a WDC race between Hamilton and Button, but it wasn't to be, unfortunately.
Alonso the best by far. I really hope he takes the championship but then I usually favour an underdog against the dominant force (Vettel/Redbull currently)
Kimi has been very impressive on his return. I can't knock Vettel either although he has enjoyed arguably the best car at many races.
After them Perez has shown well.

Has been quick on the rare occasions he has kept his nose clean.Possibly Alonso for making the Ferrari work early on in the season and somehow being able to stay out of trouble when wheel to wheel racing.
But it has to be Kimi. Has been a little conservative in situations where other drivers would try the overtake but has been fast, consistent and stayed out of trouble. Factor in that it is his first year back and that for me is what clinches it.
