F1 drivers who could/should of won more races and champs

Not underperformed as such, but Mansell could certainly have had another championship with a bit more luck (Adelaide '86 anyone?).
Arguably, a certain M. Schumacher could perhaps have had a couple more championships if he's stayed with Benetton another two seasons - although this might have delayed his Ferrari winning streak by a similar amount.
Moss certainly had a championship in him.
Piquet could have won plenty more races/championships in his Brabham days if the car was more reliable and he could be bothered when things didn't suit.
The list could go on forever - it's all ifs, buts and maybes though.

I think if Alonso stayed at McLaren he and Hamilton would have spent another year getting in each others way and Massa (!!!) would have won.
What about Hill, could he have won again if he was able to find a competitive car to drive?

Agree. Difficult though because the protégée was/is the fastest driver of his era, but alonso should have had priority in part due to him being world champion. Bad luck that a rookie had more influence in the team than a 2 time world champion. Really weird situation and totally without precedent IMO. Stuffed McLaren? Don't think so, they well and truly stuffed themselves.

Really? He was good, but was he really ever a WDC in waiting? Not saying that that is a prerequisite for this thread, but you can hardly say he's missed many opportunities, last years lotus Renault GP was, well, crap, and he wasn't under contract for this year so would he have been in any better a position than he had been in previous years?Du1point8 said:

Personally, I'd say that Reubens should have more wins to his name, and (my heart says) had he not died I think senna could have had 96 and 97 WDCs had he stuck at Williams. How different the history books would be if senna was a 5x champ.

Looking at his results as a junior, he was almost unbeatable. He never got the chance to run in a truly top car in F1. He was leading the championship in 2008 for ages in the BMW with continuously good results. I have no doubts that he would have shown all the other top drivers the way to go. If your looking for amount of talent against a lack of wins and WDCs, then he is the man (in the modern age). The fact that he won the first two rallies after his return to the wheel says a lot. A car accident and a rally crash have stopped him from achieving at the highest level (F1).

Well the only pro series he's ever won is formula Renault, and he'd hardly made an impact in other things. My main issue is that I just don't see where his opportunity was to achieve in F1, as I said previously, last years Renault/lotus was a dog, and he was out of contract at the end of the year, so would likely have been replaced by Kimi (grosjean's manager is Boullier so he would likely have got his seat anyway).
