Meh. Its hard to keep track of all these championships, does there really need to be so many "stepping stone" formulas?

I wasn't even aware there was an F2 to axe?! Goes to show how fragmented it's all become.

I think F2 was a good little series. It was (relatively) cheap and had more races than GP2.

If I was being cynical I might say Palmer no longer needs to run the series, given Jolyon has now moved on..

But no way could a driver jump from f2 up to f1.

I think that's part of the problem with F2, where do you go afterwards? The only way up the ladder would be WSR or GP2, both of which need serious money.

It was hailed by the FIA as the antidote to drivers making their way up the ladder with a cheque book, but ultimately money still speaks volumes in racing.

Quite, but I'm not sure you could from WSR or GP3 either.

would be good if they sell the cars to teams then MSV run a britsh chamiponship. 2014 on BTCC, when formula ford dies a death? Thruxton would be epic!

Hope not don't see the appeal of single seaters on the btcc package should be a production cup type series as a stepping stone into the btcc not another boring single seater series.

This is a good point. I think if Palmer was making money then he would still run it but perhaps there wasn't enough in it to keep him and MSVR interested.

A meeting full of "compromised" racing cars is boring. having a good mix is nice to see. GT, Touring cars and fast single seaters.

We already had Formula Renault, which was so exciting nobody bothered to turn up.

another bit of the spankie legacy bites the dust...

F2 was his pipe-dream, seem to remember it was supposed to be £50K PA, that went well....

More to do with expensive cars were the dodgy tubs that flexed and delaminated and silly part prices.

WSR isn't far off GP2 pace - especially at Monaco where the extra horsepower of the GP2 car is worth a lot less. I think a driver could step fairly comfortably from WSR into F1.

GP3 cars, on the other hand, are pretty awful. Dismal hairdriers that run no downforce because they're so underpowered they'd be dog slow on the straights with a bit of wing. The racing is amusing, but they sound like tuned 4-pot diesels with big exhausts.

WSR are great bits of kit with the new zytek v8 sound the dogs tits. Redbull young drivers jump from WSR to F1.

The crappy renault 2.0 turbo out of the gp3 is being junked to be replaced with a detuned ex WSR 3.5 v6 what is based on the nissan 350v block but it's being tuned by (UK)AER instead of (French)Solution F. Who In my experience were "well" crap. Giving the kids in GP3 400bhp could make so well intresting (expensive) racing.

Supposedly quite a few unhappy prospective drivers. But wasn't it F2 this year that was struggling for numbers at the beginning?

Here's an idea- we have a cheap single seater series- let's call it Formula Ford. And then one a bit pricier with slicks and wings- why not call it FF2000? Spend a bit more, get a bit more serious- hey , why not call it F3? Then up to F2 - how come we never thought of this ? - quicker still. And then a short step to F1.

Sounds a daft idea I know- - God, who needs logic and clarity eh?

WHAT - we tried it already ? And it worked ?

So obviously we had to dismantle it completely into the bloody chaos we have now .....
