He certainly had reasonable pace.. enough for the midfield at least. I'd be surprised if his legal adventures didn't cause problems with some of the more conservative countries on the calendar though. That said I'm sure any team has more than enough lawyers to check this sort of thing out properly before they hired him. If he can be fast enough and the sponsors don't mind then why not?

I'd be happy at that. Quick driver, and a bit of experience. Would give their second string driver a chance for the places he can't to go to as well.

This. Out of the list of drivers still searching, I'd put KOB, ALG, KOV, SEN and GRO before him (in that order)... but that's personal choice.

I reckon Sutil is as good as Kob, Gros, and Alg... Never been convinced by Heikki though. Senna is not as good as Sutil.

Actually that's a tough list to argue with Kobayashi and Grosjean are perhaps a bit more crash-happy but maybe offer more potential and Jaime was certainly showing real promise towards the end of his last stint. I remain unconvinced on Senna though - he's had more than enough chances in my book and as nice a guy as he is he just doesn't seem to cut it.

hmm i'll believe it when it's confirmed. imo lots more talented, quicker, and less stabby drivers out there.
And i'd surprised if he's managed to get a decent amount of money behind him given his unfailingly mediocre F1 performance of a few years ago...

He did aswell as anyone could've done in the car at that time.

imo he was no better than any of the other guys struggling to outperform a rubbish car. liuzzi, alguesuari, buemi, d'ambrosio, heidfeld, klien.
all good drivers but just pretty anonymous.

I agree with that, I never saw anything to elevate him above journeyman in my eyes. Plenty of other drivers who could do a better job with that opportunity in my view.

Still not sure though, apparently his manager has been telling anyone who'll listen that entry visas will not be a problem which says to me it probably is

there is a visa automatically issued with International licences ( i must admit i don't know quite what it covers) but i can only imagine it's a work licence. Surely there is the same type of thing on a superlicence?

He had a seat fitting yesterday and they said he "might" drive at the test next week.

I would suggest that the 'money' talks are done with, now it is just a question on waiting for the Visas to be granted before it is made 'official'.

Is this brinksmanship over Bianchi? The logical thought is that FIF1 have agreed terms with Ferrari for 2014 to bring Bianchi into the team and take the Ferrari powertrain for 2014. My money is on them only agreeing a 1 year contract with Sutil. Bianchi then stays as the number 3 driver for 2013.

Didn't Bianchi test the other day in Jerez? are they doing evaluations and sutil will be in at the next test to compare?
