Just watching a video with the FXX got me thinking, what car would you like to see the F1 Drivers race against each other on a race weekend?

Something along the lines of a separate championship to give the fans the chance to see who's the best.

I was thinking the old Can-Am cars would be fun.

Love to see all the present drivers going head to head. This is pure fantasy.

Top Gear had the right idea by timing everyone in a rubbish car. Get them in Kia Rios.

A support race would be fun. Not sure the sponsors would like it - risk of injury, etc.

A bunch of more "standard-ish cars" might be fun. Could have a different make/model every race depending on what market/model the manufacturers are trying to target.

Seeing them do an 8 lap sprint in SL55s / RS4s / etc might help with the "win on Sunday / sell on Monday message"

But again, the sponsors would hate it.

Clio Cup cars, or something powerful and rear wheel drive to test car control. No driver aids, and a manual gearbox aswell to find out who can heel and toe etc

Karts!

Seriously, almost every F1 driver has done kart racing in their career. Most are former champions in national/regional series. Cheap, even playing field, lots of wheel-to-wheel action, and relatively low risk of serious injury.

If it HAS to be proper cars, then they should race in the drivers' parade cars. tongue out

One of the most exciting short races I saw was was F1 team managers racing in Mk 1 Escorts around Brands.

Memory goes after a time, and this must have been in the 60s, but I was impressed by Chapman given that F1 drivers, such as Brabham I think, were his competitors.

I missed the start for some reason and it was the cheering that made me rush to the fencing. I'd pay to see the like of that again.

would like to see footage of that. Chapman was a very quick driver. Clark only just beat him in a formula (think it was f2 cars) race only after Chapman spun near the end. Think it was a kind of evaluation drive for Clark before he got his lotus seat..

Some GT4 cars would be fun, no aero, around 400bhp 1300kg.

Either that or, just a F3 car.
