It's January, testing starts in February.

Hopes:
Nobody has last years car with new bits on it for all the test dates and then wonders why the new car doesn't work.
Everybody has a nosecone trim to hide the step noses.
One of the lower teams 'Does a Brawn' and has stumbled upon a really fast car design, this makes Adrian Newey cry.

Anyway...

Thanks for these.
Very stable regulations for next year, unlikely to be a "miracle technology" that sees that happening.

But with stability, we should see the lower order teams closing the gap given they have the stable year of design philosophy to "adopt".

Ricciardo has seen the 2013 Toro Rosso STR8, and it looks very different to the 2012 car, not a tweaked copy of it.

RBR have admitted that trying to develop the RB8 right up till the end of last season has taken its toll on the design of the RB9 and that there is the possibility that they will attend the first test with last years car.

Are any of the car launches open to the public, or are they all unveiled behind closed doors?

I imagine unveiling at Silverstone doesn't mean it'll see any of the track?

Sorry for dumb questions, but if there's a chance of seeing something at one of the launches, I'd be interested in going.

Thanks,
S

They have become pretty poor in recent years. More and more online launches. Not that a static car launch is much to write home about anyway - much more fun to see them running smile

I'm in the south west & struggling to find an airport to fly to Jerez. Can anyone advise on an airport to fly from?

Try skyscanner.net. If you put the united kingdom as the starting point and Jerez as the destination it will show you the UK airports that fly there on any given day.

Gibraltar is about an hour from there, as is Seville.

Ferrari launch in early February at Maranello, maybe the 2nd, before they move out to Jerez for the first test on the 5th. Williams and Toro Rosso will launch on the 5th at Jerez.

Williams looks pretty much like last year's car, without the stepped nose.

Williams FW35 will miss the first test and will be at the first Barcelona test on February 19th. For Jerez they will have a modified FW34 with the 2013 livery.

it's much easier to fly to seville and hire a car. at least it used to be. most flights now to jerez or seville seem to go through madrid which is a pain.
