Hi guys - I'm new to posting so please forgive me if question has been posted before - I'm planning to get my BARS licence this year (purely to shut my husband up as he thinks he is the better driver! - not planning to compete) but am concerned that it would affect my everday car insurance either negatively or positively. Differing information on the 'net so just wondered if anyone had a definitive answer!
I can't help with you with your question, but I'm appalled by the answer above
. Seems a most reasonable thing to ask, and one would have thought you'd asked the correct forum. It would appear otherwise.
As far as insurance goes, if your occupation can effect your premium, your propensity to drive fast for enjoyment (albeit on a track) could feasibly affect it also. Let those of us who could benefit from your enquiries know how you get on.

Well when was the last time your potential insurer asked if you had a race licence before

Thanks for your input.
I am trying to help the woman from wasting £350 odd quid on a rally "test" that isn't a real test and then not actually compete with the licence. Are you honestly disagreeing with me on that?
I am not even going to waste any time talking about the insurance matter past what I have already said.

Thanks to you all for your replies – negative and positive (however, I won’t go into that as I was always taught that if I can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all)!
I will certainly look into drakart’s advice and if this test is a bit Mickey Mouse, then I will be most appreciative that I’ve not wasted my hard earned dosh.
hondafanatic – I had completely forgotten that I’d registered sometime ago, hence the lurking!
Plug550 – thank you for your responses. I, too, thought the PH forum would be the best place to seek wisdom from those with experience and what with insurance companies being what they are, forewarned is forearmed! This being my second post, I will make a third, just to inform others if there could be an issue, if I decide to go ahead with it all. As for a 4th, 5th etc, I do hope so, however, I will be very careful not to ask silly questions! Many thanks for your politeness.
Thank you, one and all, for all your posts.
