Casey Stoner to race Aussie V8s
Discussion
So Stoner has signed up to drive in 2nd tier Dunlop V8 Supercar series. Hopefully with an eye to getting to V8 Supercars eventually
Redbull money behind him as expected.
Sorry for the Crash link

How do we thinke he will get on?
Can he translate the prodigious talent on the bike into driving a Holden. I like to think he could.

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him translate his talent to four wheels. (Surtees maintains its easier to go from two to four...if you've got "it" on two, you'll have "it" on four) He's doing it the"right" way too from what I can see, not being all Billy Big b
ks about it and diving in right at the top where I'm sure he could fairly easily have pulled strings to get there...or had those strings pulled for him.
Still a massive, massive shame he's chosen to retire from MGP...for purely selfish reasons I hope he reconsiders in the near future but in the meantime, I'm glad to see he's still racing.

Hope he makes it - an awesome racer, still under rated by some. The only rider to tame the Ducati. As said, the transition from 2 to 4 wheels should be easier than the other way round; I presume its all about 'feeling for grip', and knowing when to push.
I suspect one Mr V Rossi might not concur wholeheartedly with that statement ! Albeit the V8 Supercars should be easier to master than the WRC. I'd rather he headed back to MotoGP in the goodness of time, but I doubt he will.
Not surprised at all. Casey Stoner's interest in V8 Supercars extends well back. He was well known to have DVDs of the races shipped to him when he was racing and has also been a regular visitor to races whenever he was back in Australia.
Will he be any good? Well only time and running will tell but I think the history of bikers going into car racing bodes well for Stoner. I for one will be fascinated to see how he performs.
The V8 Supercars series has a channel on YouTube nowadays for anyone that wants to see the races. A lot more invigorating that our poxy 2 litre touring cars I have to say.

Awesome. So the next question is, where can we watch live Aussi V8 races? MotorsTV? I thought they only did reruns though.
They do but i believe V8 Supercars the top tier are going to be streaming on youtube for the entire season so if you dont mind late/early mornings you can watch it there. You won't be able to use the old site as BigPond/Telstra have pulled out of the sponsorship deal so that site doesn't exist any more.

The digital rights are up for negotiation so maybe YouTube will get them >

They stream on the V8 site too, you just have to make up an Aussie postcode. They show the support races, such as the Dunlop series, where Stoner is racing. Although they might well stick that on Youtube if he's involved. Bound to be the demand for it.
You can set up a euro account with your own postcode aswell
