Watching Australia and Malaysia F1 on Sky Go - good idea?

I have no access to normal Sky television. However, I have got a shiny iPad and an ok internet connection.

I've noticed that I can get Sky Go on a monthly basis which will cover the first few rounds of the F1 calendar. Has anyone else watched any races on this? Is it worth a punt and does it stream well?

The pack I'm looking at is £35 for the month. Not cheap, I know. But it will give me other channels to watch too. Thanks all.

I use Sky Go at home and only get a 3mb (max) download speed and it is fine for the most part. I've not tried to watch a F1 race on it, but often use the SKY app that lets you choose an onboard driver to watch while watching the main race on the TV.

If you know somebody with Sky F1 (I think it's bundled with some sports packages) they are allowed Sky Go on two devices.

You can get Sky GO extra for a couple of quid extra a month and register 4 devices and download programs direct to ipad/iphone/pc etc so might be worth finding a mate who has it and donating him the couple of quid.

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who has the Sky package with the F1 channel. My mum and my brother have Sky, but neither has anything more than the most basic package without Sky Sports.

Thanks for posting this as I wasn't aware of it. I think I'll give it a go for the first 2 races. Looking at the Sky blurb, Sky Go will cover two devices. So if you found a mate who also wanted to watch f1 from home you could split the cost.
If it works ok, and the drivers championship hasn't been decided by the Indian GP, then I might do it again for November, and then I would have only missed 5 races live over the season.

Good thinking...also if you have Apple TV (i'm sure there is an equivalent) you can then stream it from your device to your TV.

You can't do this unfortunately. Sky have built in something to the app that won't allow it to stream to another device; I guess they knew people would do this rather than pay for a second subscription/multiroom etc. bds!

There are a number of websites available if you want to be sat in the firstrow to watch sports events online for free. Justin also has tv if you are interested. Maybe even an abbreviation of an English Premier League webSite might be able to help

I've used SkyGo on my iPad for those weekends where I was staying at my other half's last season. She has a "normal" broadband connection, and I managed to watch the coverage with no problems at all - nice high resolution on the screen, no buffering. Perfectly adequate

I'm in the same boat as the OP. The flat im currently renting has no communal dish and we're not allowed to errect our own, dam conservation area.

Away my plan is to firstly change our 60gb capped plusnet Boardband package to their unlimited version. Then install the sky go app on the xbox with the £35 Sky Entertainment + sports monthly ticket.

Anyone have any experiance of this? Is the F1 channel definitely included?

Sky go is UK based only, it won't work abroad!

If you have an Xbox you can download the Sky Go app. Perhaps not true HD but very good quality nonetheless.

You don't need Sky Sports to get the F1 channel, it's free with the HD add on, £10.25 p/month.

As above, you don't need sports to get F1 channel.

I think the posts above saying you only have to add HD and not Sports are for existing Sky subscribers, not for us just wanting Sky Go on its own.

How easy is to the swap between the packages?

I use Sky Go to watch F1 and is fine. SD resolution if it makes a difference to you.
