As a NASCAR novice and only a 2nd visit to Las Vegas. Has anybody been to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and could share any do's and don'ts regarding getting to the speedway and any other general LVMS advice that they wouldn't mind sharing.

Thanks.

Only ever been to a drag race event, but getting in/out was a breeze - just off the freeway, acres of parking space and well organised. It would be significantly busier obviously on a NASCAR day but I reckon they will have it very well organised.

Some info on this page if you search for traffic : http://www.jayski.com/pages/tracks/past/lasvegas-p...

I'm also going and we are staying at the Mandalay Bay. Was wondering whether to drive or if there are buses to take us to the track.

I went a few years ago.It was a great day and I'd go again one day.

I was used to the traffic problems of Silverstone and expected it to be a bit better but still a problem. We got there fairly early - probably about 10.30 - and drove straight in without delay. There were already lots of pick -up trucks there with the BBQ fired up on the back and much beer flowing.

At the end of the race there were obviously lots of people walking about but we were again straight out of the car park and away.Max hold up probably 10-15 mins more than on the way in.

There is plenty going on through the day and lots of mainly rubbish food options. The people watching is great as it is for all of Vegas but be prepared for lots of flag waving and shouting about how great the USA is.

The race was good as well - you should have a good view of all or nearly all of the track.

I went last year, I used the buses which pick you up from the strip and take you to the track and then drop you back after. I did all 3 days at the track and they were great, pick ups at a few locations. Much better than driving and pretty cheap. The track is good but take plenty of sun cream as most is open to the desert sun.
Oh and the coaches don't go the main road way, they cut through the airforce base so you even get to see a few stealth fighters which is a bonus, and it cuts out traffic.
