Oddly, I wondered exactly this, I mean Chavez had to have done something to allow the t
t to race in Monaco, considering he was banned from racing there for life, after being banned for four races as well.
I doubt he will be less dangerous this year, along with Kamikaze Grosjean he's another that should be dropped

Williams seemed positive yesterday about the future however from their website I see that Lady Virginia Williams has passed away.
So thoughts are with Sir Frank and the rest of the team at this time.

This. Towards the end of last year Maldonado showed genuine improvement in his race craft and still had raw pace. If he can do a full year without daft mistakes he'll be worthy of his place on the grid without having to be a 'pay driver' though, more performances like Barcelona should do it, not the win, just faultless driving. Maldonado is worth keeping an eye on. He has shown potential on several occasions and has moderated his "Gung Ho" so called racer approach and if he maintains that, his results will improve.
I will not be surprised if that improvement surprises other observers who have not seen any potential in the driver.
Financial considerations may curtail his improvements of course.

I'm not so sure. They need a "hero" figure right now, any incoming president might find latching on to F1 a canny move, at least in the short term - it's apolitical and good for the global stage. At least for 2 years... Talk up a Venezuelan GP, etc...

He is a dangerous man on track and he has showed this many many times, especially bad when he has used his car as a weapon a few times at Monaco.

Unlikely. Why? Other than Barcelona he had a poor and erratic season. There are others who can do that and bring money.Hopefully, this year will be the last we see of him.
