Randomly picked up an old Autosport from the huge recycling pile (for a last dose of nostalgia before they go to be pulped). Thumbing through, I noticed a picture of a snow covered racetrack under the weekly "Then as Now?" feature - turns out it was Brands Hatch under a blanket of heavy snow 10 years previously, which caused the cancellation of the '79 Race of Champions.
I then looked at the date of the Autosport I'd randomly selected: 23rd March 1989...that caused one of those pauses of contemplation. Cover headline was "Who can beat Senna in Brazil?" Also included within is an article entitled "McLaren to build road car!"
God, I feel old...but also glad that that was "my" era of full-on F1 enthusiasm. I'm wondering now whether to keep the old magazines; if I dump them all, nice little experiences like this will be no more.

I would keep a few, scan them onto your computer and then recycle them.
I'm keeping the BGP previews and reports. It was suggested to keep the green covers too:http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
...but I've got about 10 green covers. Are they really worth anything I wonder? IIRC I wouldn't keep any of them based on content or sentimental value.
Put them on ebay.
I had a load of CAR MECHANICS monthly magazines in a pile a few years ago and thought about giving them away or dumping them. Thought I'd arrange them all in a fan for the pictures. Short description with low bid start. Several bidders and they went for £60! If you arrange the auction on a free listing weekend and no bids, will not cost you a penny. I believe single back issues of some magazines like CM go for about £4 when available.
Check the more interesting issues for content and auction them individually on a free weekend. You may be pleasantly surprised like I was.

FWIW I might as well.
