The Monaco Gp will not be shown live on a terrestrial channel in the UK.
I stopped watching F1 in its entirety when it went to Sky. But the BBC did cover the Monaco Gp live among a few others. Now that has been sky'd too. Gutted.

Will this be the first time in F1 history that it's not shown live?

To be fair, it's always a crap boring procession these days. Not really suitable for modern F1 cars.

Probably one of the most expensive and difficult to provide the coverage for too.

Wasn't suitable for the old ones either, but still fantastic in it's own unique way.

Not trolling here, promise, but why are people so anti sky? Yes it costs money but its a staggering good entertainment package.

We should be more upset that we're paying a TV tax to the tune of 130 quid or whatever it is, for absolutely nothing.

So 130 for 2 channels and radio no one ever listens or 450 quid for so many channels, F1 etc

I love F1, it makes me happy - it's worth it in my opinion.

Don't go out on the piss 10 times, or 5 times or whatever in a year for 365 days of excellent entertainment including all live F1 entertainment?

Is it the principle that people don't like?

Jimbo.

I'd miss all the live Monaco racing that there'd ever be for highlights of Spa or Canada. It's a hangers-on -fest. Good riddance.

In the 80s a lot of F1 was not live on the Beeb, including Monaco methinks.

Hmm. Sky's relentless shilling can be rather upsetting. Also the coverage is tailored to toddlers, they're almost as prone to over-dramatising things as the producers of "Eddie Stobart:Trucks and Truckers", sometime soon they will force you to buy the full sports package to get F1, and I don't like Johnny Herbert's hair.

So they can be hip, groovy, and on the knife edge of critical social commentary...

Or something.

Sky have done nothing wrong. The BBC relinquished the races. Luckily Sky were there to pick up the ball, and have a very good channel with lots of technical programming, far more than the BBC had.

If you don't want to watch on sky, fine, but some people do seem to like making a song and dance about the whole thing.

It's not too bad at the moment, for existing HD customers.

But that's changing for new F1 viewers - the F1 channel will be moving to the Sky Sports package, which means around £700 / year in total if you want to watch all the F1 races live.

I signed up to the sky sports package to get the F1 and because I don't mind watch endless sport, I've been impressed with the coverage so far and will be interested to compare it to the first BBC live race.

The only one I miss from the Beeb is David Caulthard, he has a fortunate habit of noticing stuff that the Sky pair miss.

Monaco was ALWAYS live - even though others weren't.

I can remember watching it on RTL, maybe I just fancied a change then wobble

It pisses me off that I pay for the BBC, and I pay for sky. I don't like any sport other than F1, and all I want to do is watch the couple of hours its on every few weeks, why to I need to pay for a whole extra channel for that? I'm certainly not going to subscribe to a whole sports package.

I'm actually considering binning sky and going to virgin because of this.

I don't think you need to buy the sports to get F1, they throw it in for free with HD?
