I know this is my first post so bare with me
If you could complete this survey for me that would be great!
A little about me...
I'm working for two Motorsport teams while at Uni, competing in Formula Ford and Dutch Supercar Championships.
Currently in my final year of an Honours Degree in Motorsport Engineering and putting together a questionnaire to help further my research into my Dissertation project. I am looking into “How has Safety in Motorsport in the last 50 years affected the popularity of the sport?”

Interesting topic, I've taken a drag racing perspective, largely safety improvement have been a very good thing and need to continue with the cars, I don't think it reduces the enjoyment, however if you start altering the tracks and start putting up cath fencing that would be a bad thing, motorsport will always be, and needs to have a certain amount of danger, while I don't like to see people hurt, motorsport without danger would be boring, just like rugby without big tackles and ice hockey without big hits
We do seem to get an awful lot of survey requests in this section.
What is the point of such surveys?
What are they for?
Who ends up with the data collected?
To what use is the collected data put?
As for danger in motorsport, I feel that matters are now so safe that it has taken some of the edge off the sport.

Done. It's awfully written and worded though, and the answers will be useless because of the type of questions asked (except in one or two cases).
I would assume this is for an 11+ exam, or SATS. Maybe the lower class of GCSE English. It certainly can't be A-Level or Degree-Level wordsmanship... can it?

Absolutely, now the probability of watching some clubbie driver on a meagre budget indulging in his favourite hobby on a cold Saturday afternoon at Castle Combe die in a 5 car fireball right in front of me has reduced, its put me right off spectating at motorsport events

Why does he want opinions on such a matter?What is to be gained by what, to me, are pointless and repetitive surveys which serve no purpose.
Is the education system obsessed with surveys as an education tool?
And no need to get personal. I am not attacking the OP - just the constant appearance of such rather inane surveys on this site.

I assume you are just on a nostalgia trip and getting misty eyed thinking back to the era of JYS et al... Given the choice would you have competed in a leather cap and cotton overalls like Moss or the Nomex and full face helmet that you actually wore?....

And then when I demonstrate that I know something you call "pedantry".
Perhaps if you laid of the personal attacks you wouldn't get yourself into such a muddle.
The thread is about a survey. My initial point was about the validity of such surveys. I think they are pointless. Others may disagree - which is their right.
But I don't question their personal attributes just because they hold a contrary view to mine.

Thank you for all so much for the responce!! I am overwhelmed with all who taken part and commented.. Think I can get used to forums and see myself spending more time on here

So many of you did my survey it reached its limit I was allowed and closed, so thank you all!!
If any of you watch any racing at Castle Combe Circuit I will be there for the first race meeting this Bank Holiday Monday running Fomula Ford's in the Kevin Mills Racing awning so feel free to come in and introduce yourself. Be nice to put face's to names.
