Clark was undoubtedly one of the most gifted drivers of his generation. The smoothness of his driving was a lesson to every avid fan including me years ago. He was really poetry in motion within a motor car driving apparently effortlessly and winning and winning and winning. Tragic loss with his life cut all too short at its peak.

He was certainly one of the greatest drivers I have ever seen anywhere in the world at anytime. A really laid back unassuming gentleman in life and a Giant in Motorsport.

Visited the Jim Clark Room in Duns on the 7th of April in 1992 with my Grandfather. Both of us did not realise the significance of the date. We were the only people there at the time. The staff were amazing and gave us a guided tour explaining the significance and history of a lot of the trophies and exhibits. Will never forget that day.

Don't know if you can learn "style", but one could discuss whether the Jim Clark "smoothness" inspired one JYS, or are all us Scots "smooth" ? ?

Certainly one of the most accomplished drivers of all time and a true gent. A massive loss to the human race when he had his accident.

Shy, self-effacing and charming man who was simply the best of his day by some way. Effortless, smooth, fast and fair - a truly great driver and in my top three of all time.

Saw him race at Brands in the 66 British GP in a hopelessly outclassed car. He finished 4th after being delayed by pit stops - his recovery drive that day was something extraordinary to behold.

I remember hearing of his death (I was 17 at the time) and being devastated to the extent I stopped following my number one sport for the rest of that year. It was only when Rindt started winning in the Lotus 72 that I got my appetite back only for tragedy to hit again.

Clark was a surpreme driver and would have won many more races - such a sad loss. Planning a visit to Duns later this year.
