Todays real battle of endurance was in the grandstands. So so cold! What happened to spring finally springing?

I know this is a rare thing to say but, hopefully Audi will up their game a bit tomorrow or it'll be a Toyota cake walk.

I'll be there for the race, staying in MK for the night as didn't fancy a drive from Essex too early.

Look out for me as I'll be in the red GTA with a PH smilie on the boot smile

yep (there is a thread in the le mans section)

I'll be taking my bicycle and flag pole. These two probably not compatable, but neevrmind. I tend to walk miles watching the race

You are not wrong there! I had my full wet weather motorcycle gear on, with thermals underneath and was barely warm enough. I hope it's better tomorrow...

Best to watch it online... http://live.fiawec.com/ HD feed available without ads. biggrin
Picture quality of the ads on motors is always surprisingly good yet the picture quality of even programme is pants. redcard

Better weather today, but the rain now persists, I spotted that both the spectators have put their rain coats on.

Watching it on MotorsTV - i said to swmbo a while ago that the place looked deserted. I remember the days when the old Rivett Supply 6 Hours race would draw huge crowds.

Where are you? Wave at us. we wont miss you!!!!!

Don't think you will.. I'll come clean and say I'm watching it on motors too. smile
Looks like they are putting on a good show today, don't know why it draws such a tiny crowd.

Agreed! I really didn't think McNish would pull back that much time.

Feel a bit guilty for not going along as I'm only half an hour away. Would've been on my tod though.

I really enjoyed myself this weekend! This being despite the fact the only car we have running this season failed to qualify, then after working its way up through the grid got punted off. Such is the way!

Oh, and I put my pictures here if anyone fancies a look...

I went yesterday, my first visit to Silverstone using the International Circuit (F1 aside) since the FIA GTs a few years back when the new circuit was officially opened. I was hoping/assuming they would have improved spectator facilities/access since then, but it's still a horribly confusing place.

The infield is a complete mess, hundreds of metres of fencing with 'no spectator viewing' signs on them (that loads of people were spectating from), ironically he new infield was heavily prmoted as a new fan friendly area when they built it. The whole bus system is horrible and massively weighted towards VIPs. I've rarely felt so 'them and us' at a circuit. A bridge across to the infield from near the new pit straight can't come soon enough.

Not meaning to take anything away from Nishy but the number 1 didn't have the hybrid thing working, it broke a front drive shaft early in the race.

agree 100% found it very annoying just trying to find somewhere to view the race, and for £100 you'd of thought we could all sit in the same bloody seats for an event that obviously wasn't going to be that busy!

Anyway once we made our way back to the straight grandstand and wandered around to Stowe we had good time.

Left early feeling disappointed but missed out on a great finish.

Racing was boring, class position lights not working and was it just me or was the commentary today awful? I had no idea what was going on in GTs unless I was in front of a jumbotron.

Only thing I can compliment is the weather as there was the odd spit and a brief shower - iwas in the bus at the time!

What's it going to take to install pedestrian acess to the Wing? Come on, we're into year number three now. If I send and email to Silverstone it will be shyte PR reply. Epetition?

Sorry rant over. I'm happy there are people who enjoyed themselves today.

I don't think it does draw a tiny crowd. I assume that like last year most of the spectators will have gravitated into intentional pit straight, abbey and club covered grandstands which aren't really picked up on the TV camera's. Silverstone with 30k attendance looks completely empty just because of the shear size of the place yet would still be one of the largest motorsport attendances all year.

Brands with a 30k gate for BTCC looks and feels completely rammed yet a similar or larger gate at the Silverstone round feels empty.
