Katherine Legge to race DeltaWing
Brit confirmed to partner Andy Meyrick at Laguna Seca

Legge will replace Frenchman Olivier Pla, whose extended European racing schedule, including commitments to drive in the WEC and other GT series, has necessitated his departure from the team. The move will give DeltaWing Racing an all-British driver lineup. Legge, who was born in Haselmere, started her career in the UK, before moving to the States to take part in the Toyota Atlantic series. After progressing to the Champ Car series in 2006 and 2007, she then spent three years racing in the DTM series. She then returned to the US to race IndyCars in 2012, and this year she’s hoping to take her first steps in sportscar racing with the DeltaWing team.
The news follows Legge’s successful testing session in the DeltaWing earlier this month. “It was really exciting to get in the car for the first time,” she said. “Having driven lots of types of racing cars, I didn’t know what to expect, so I was very pleasantly surprised. It braked really well, it turned really positively, and it was really fast in a straight line – it drove like a really good racing car.”
There’s no word yet on whether Legge will continue to race with DeltaWing for the whole season; indeed, that may depend on whether the car will manage to overcome the recent reliability issues with its new Elan Motorsports powerplant following Nissan’s withdrawal of from the project earlier this year.
PH is turning into a real trolling forum recently.
Yes its a woman driver. Why on earth would that be an issue?
If she has a passion to win and the ability to drive fast why not? Its not a sperm donation race.
As for the delta wing. Some one has tried something different. Something not seen before. All you people that slag it off would sit well next to the neigh-sayers at the beginnings of manipulating aerodynamics and further back would have believed anything over 12mph would kill you.
Good luck the the team and drivers and its a shame they wont be competing at Le Mans.
Personally, I wish her all the best
.The car still looks like you know what however.....
