I've always had trouble getting a helmet which fits me - I guess I have an odd shaped head. Living in the North East of Scotland, I can't go somewhere to try on helmets.

For a few years, I had an " Impact CF Vapor" which fitted perfectly. Sadly, this was damaged and needs replacing.

Not being able to identify a UK Impact stockist, I ordered a " Stilo ST4 F Carbon" from Nicky Grist.

It was delivered this morning ... and it won't go on my head. frown

Both the new Stilo and the old Impact are "large" which, according to the respective websites is 59-60cm.

The difficulty with the Stilo is that it's too tight above the opening - i.e. too small for my back to forehead dimension.

Even if I jam it down as far as I can, my chin is below the bottom of the helmet and my eye line is far too low in the opening. Here's what I mean ...

... unsurprisingly, it feels like there's a substantial gap between the top of my head and the inside top of the helmet.

If I go for a XL (or even XXL) in the Stilo, I'm wondering if I'll have too much side-to-side "slop" even with additional cheek pads.

I can't have pressure on the forehead. It would give me a headache in no time and I wouldn't be able to concentrate properly.

Instinctvely, I also think I should have a fairly uniform thickness of padding all round. I think a big thump on a spot where there's a lot of padding would have my head moving inside the helmet ... which wouldn't be good I don't think.

I'm going to return this Stilo this afternoon and I'll also call NG to ask for their advice but any thoughts from PH?

Oh, ... I forgot to say ... my first event of the season is next weekend.

Thanks,

Eric smile

Eric,
My heid is maybe a wee bit smaller but my lid will not be in use next weekend if you get into a late/non delivery situation.
You might need to stop at Ross's bakery on the way to collect it though ;-)
