British Grand Prix Tickets

This event is always a sell out. If you ain't got your ticket by April then you will usually have to resort to ebay. If you want a decent seat then usually you need it bought by November.

So why not this year?

This year sees almost every grandstand with tickets still available, totally unheard of.

I'm one of those people staying away. Certainly wasn't because of the weather last year. It's the UK. It rains. I always go prepared, although I will admit on the Friday I didn't have any wellies but this was corrected for Saturday.

The traffic doesn't bother me. It's got better over the years.

Nope. The reason I'm not going is due to the fking greedy s that run Silverstone. Last year I paid over £300 for a ticket, not that bad as I go for all three days. But for this year the greedy s decided that they would carve up their grandstands into zones. The grandstand I wanted now had 5 zones and you can guess which zone I wanted. Yep, the most expensive one. It meant my ticket had gone up by over 20%. 20 fking percent. Silverstone, take a look around you and see the financial climate!!

I voted with my feet, and it appears many others did likewise.

Talking to a friend a month back and he is doing Monza this year, his three day ticket and hotel is costing less than the ticket I bought last year. Go figure.

Silverstone.... Go fk yourselves!!

I must admit I am looking forward to seeing how many people are there this year due to price increases, inclement weather, poor Mclaren performance and the hit and miss approach of Lewis in the Mercedes. I have been going to the Grand Prix now for 9 years and it has steadily got busier from when I first started going. However this year I feel things may change. This is the first year I have been tempted to give it a miss and wander abroad due to the pricing and the shyte weather we normally have to endure. I am in Club Silverstone again this year and must admit I do like the way you park close to the grandstand and are in and out of the circuit in no time, last year been different due to the washout we had. I do love the atmosphere of the place and the Grand Prix party afterwards but I think next year Monza or Spa beckons.

I was thinking of going until I saw that race day alone is £145 for general admission! 3 days at Spa was £100 when I last looked...

Im going for the first time, so I havent anything to compare it to. Its cost me a small fortune for three day Int Pit Straight ticket and Woodlands camping. Its a one off experience for me, not sure I can afford to do this often!

So how good is the after race party? Is it worth me staying an extra night and leaving Monday?

To be honest depends on the result obviously. Last years was very poorly organised compared to other years. If you have never been to one then give it a go, all part of the weekend.
