One week to go... and no thread yet? Is this a sign of less interest in F1?

I will be sat at home this year watching it instead of Silverstone due to the greedy s that run Silverstone putting their prices up again.

No chance of a British winner this yearfrown but please no Seb. An Alonso win will do for meyes Forecast for the moment is cloudy weather, but we all know that can mean anything at Silverstonelaugh

Not from me!! I wasn't sure if just anyone can start this kind of thread, so thank you for starting it biggrin

No Seb for me, too. Agree on there may not be a British winner but would like to see them on the podium/top 5, at least.

I'll be an armchair spectator this year, can't wait for it to kick off.

One of the Mercedes for PP (possibly 1st row lock out) but drop off in the race.

I guess Top 5 (in any order):
ALO
VET
RAI
HAM
WEB

If the Fezza's are on form MAS may sneak into the top 5.

Thanks

I shall be at flag post 20, Maggots entry. So if your passing between sessions come say "hi" might keep me awake after the 5am alarm to collect my radio. hehe

Despite the price i'll be there, at the track, with my mates, enjoying the weekend. Its my only luxury this year after loosing my job last year.
I'll be recording it aswell just to be sure...

If Mercedes have spent another three weeks tyre testing with their current cars and drivers, I think Lewis could do quite well...

Button has this to say, I hope the people in charge take note.

http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns25684.html

Button said:
A factor specific to F1, however, could be the questionable spectacle of the 2013 formula, caused mainly by drivers having to race off the pace to look after Pirelli's fragile tyres.

"I agree that some of the racing hasn't been action-packed," Button said.

"It has been a lot more 'After you, sir, because I am looking after my tyres'. But there have been good races," he insisted.

I wonder how many tickets will be left unsold? This will be my last visit to the race as the wife and I are going to try a race abroad and make a weeks holiday out of it. Can do this cheaper than doing the same thing here??

Not surprised tickets don't sell that well..... I'm assuming they are bloody expensive to watch from anywhere decent. Many people would rather sit in the comfort of their own home and watch it on TV / internet where you can easily follow all the action and even have a choice of camera angles.

I know we are only race 8/19? But the WDC is starting to get that feeling of a 1 horse race situation. I like Vettel but it would be nice if it were a close championship. So I think the result next week could be critical for the championship battle.

Lotus badly need to bring some kind of performance upgrade to keep Kimi's chances alive as it appears the other teams have figured out how to make the tyres last and therefore 1 stop strategies will not be enough. Ferrari/Alonso really need to find a way to qualify well; no way he can realistically win the WDC if he is consistently starting behind Vettel / Mercs.

Both Kimi and Alonso badly need to outscore Vettel significantly to keep in touch as he is starting to run away with it.

I'm told numbers will be significantly down from last year.
Friday they're only expected 60,000 as opposed to nearly 90,000 last year !

Don't get me wrong, I've bought sky so I can watch every race! But I reckon if people can only watch a few races on the BBC through out the season, it will take the urge to go and see it away.
I'm going to watch qualifying then home for the race smile

For the benefit of those who do NOT want to see a Vettel victory... again. A word in your shellike.

Why not have a few quid on him for the win at Silverstone ( currently around 2-1 ), then if he does win and disappoints you, cry all the way to the bank. If you lose the bet, rejoice... smile... it means he didn't win so a win-win scenrio for you ... well, sort of.

Alonso is a skinny price for the win. Not much bigger odds than Vettel. ... frown

I wonder if the bookies actually want anyone to bet considering such unattractive odds before a wheel is turned in Northamptonshire... or, maybe they know something ... wink

My crystal ball currently shows the following 1-2-3-4 :~

Alonso-Rosberg-Vettel-Hamilton ... mind you, Crystal Ball made in Longbridge ... frown

Four of us going Wednesday night with camping. Looking forward to it a lot! I hope it's dry (although a wet race would be interesting)

You should put some stickers and fancy lights on your car for the drive down, maybe make it look like a safety car.
